wased out water pics

I have hadseveral instances where pics taken on largw bodies ofwater in sunlight are washed out. What am I doing wrong
?

Need more information. What camera make and model and settings, and when posting a picture, click on the (store original) box so that we can see more detail and the EXIF. When saving your images, just before you post them here, remember not to tell your program to remove or delete the EXIF information so that we can help you.

By looking at your images, I'd guess that they are simply overexposed. You can fix them in post with more contrast and adding saturation.

***I brought the contrast up and added saturation***. "But" The histogram shows the peaks way off to the right confirming that your images are way overexposed causing de-saturation of the colors. Check your camera settings or reset them to factor default settings.

You might want to get a Polarizing lens. No knowing what you took it does present a problem. Most of these can be corrected in PP.

In my opinion your camera is metering on the large body of water rather than the much smaller body of the bird. You could either meter off your hand or use the spot meter function to get the reading from the bird rather than the water.
