Just found this site today and it looks like some great photographers are here... I hope to be one of them.
I post mostly on SOAPHOTO.COM and am a platinum member. I love learning about cameras and the way others view there world.
I shoot a Canon T1i and a Kodak P880. Both are great cameras. I use FastStone (@.org) for all of my editing. It's a fantastic (free) program. It's very powerful (and did I say FREE?).
I look forward to your comments and critiques. Don't be shy or hold back if you don't like something or have ideas. I learn more and more from your replies.

Well - I'm not happy about now. As a rule even though I usually can't do better - I can usually see what I think would be better, but you got me - very nice photos. Just because of the subjects I would have to vote for number 1 as my favorite. Okay - I might think about losing the contrails, maybe. To me this would be a great picture to play around with the saturation {and maybe some filters} - can't say I would ever make it better, just that it would fun to play with. Excellent capture. I use a Canon T2 and I am about as raw as they come, but think I have a pretty good eye. Now my other eye and my ears aren't so good. Generally I will add a photo or two but I feel less then comfortable doing so, but I'll put my big boy pants on; and I too welcome all comments.

I like your humor... We'll get along just fine...
Sorry to hear about your other eye & ears going bad on you like that. Have you seen a doctor about them...???...
I can send you the raw image of the bridge if you want to play with it (just don't post it without a credit or byline to me).

That was one foggy morning.
10-15 minutes before this shot, I came across the bridge and couldn't see the top of it. When I pulled up to the little park, you couldn't even see the bridge at all.

Wow and again I say wow. I can't think of any suggestions for improvement. Okay one . Have you thought about coverting your fog on the missisippi into black and white? It is a great picture already and black and white will enhance the mood. I also enjoy macro photography and your two shots are knocked right out of the ballpark  My only other suggestion is if you are really serious about your photography invest in a copy of photoshop elements 9. Its only about $100 new and there is a reason it outsells all the other editing programs. Plus once you master it you are at least 75% of the way there to mastering the big boy Photoshop itself. Or You can go to ebay and see about biding on a copy of pse7 or 8 it will cost you even less. :!: here are a couple of my best

Please - you are going to make me blush. My head is already so big all of hair has been shoved out. If the comment was not meant for me - I'm still bald, and still want everyone to have a good day because what the heck -it don't cost me anything.

Hey guys, I'm having a wonderful time learning and being entertained at the same time because of you, so thanks!!
GL--your work is awesome and inspiring! The water droplets on the macro flower got me! Thanks for the supportive info on the free site, it's much appreciated and needed.
NNB--I've been enjoying and learning from you each time I check the forum. If I may be so bold as to comment, the pic with the church steeple is off kilter, like a lopsided horizon. Or maybe it's me?!
A humble submission on my part. Feel free to comment on my attempts, ok?

Atten; SnapHappy; Okay - here's the deal I don't want to be a rat, but I'm not going to work hard against it. The church steeple that you refer to that is atilt is not mine. For me that would be minor. I am much more into larger, bigger, more in your face, a blind person could see faux pas. Actually from what it is worth department I am in the process of developing a routine for all of my pictures. I use Photoshop Elements 8.When I first open all of my pictures I go to Image and adjust to straightness {and many do} if needed, then crop most to either 5 by 7 or 8 by 10 at 300ppi. I then go to Enhance >Adjust Lighting>Levels. Next I go to Enhance>Upshsarp. I do this for all of pictures except for the bulk that I delete. I would be most interested if others have a process that they follow that they would care to share. I have no doubt that others know much better then I. I have added a couple of more that I am less that real happy about - what do you all see? Enjoy your life .

SnapHappy - I for one like the rose, I like close, the framing, focus, and color. The only thing I noticed is at least one water droplet caught the light so that it almost appeared white at least on my computer. It is the one towards the top. I could not tell you how to avoid if in fact you care to except to expermint with your lighting - maybe a bit more indirect or more diffused. And yes per one of early replies you are not only welcome to give me feedback at any time, but I ask that you do.

Oh, Mr. NNB, it's not even breakfast time but here I sit with egg on my face!!!! What kind of photographer can't even see the name on an entry?? Sheesh. A million pardons, my friend!
Your formula obviously produces some really nice results, as evidenced by your photos. Since I'm just starting out I haven't purchased any PP software so I'm only using iPhoto 9 on my Mac. You're inspiring me to learn more---thanks for that.

SnapHappy - okay now I'm a little envious. I have played around with the idea of going with Apple - my understanding is the graphics, display and ease of use is not to be beat. Just not sure how hard it would be for a very ancient person - me to lo earn the new commands and workings. Maybe some day. In regard to photo editing programs as mentioed I use Elements 8. Since this is the only one I have any knowledge of of I can't say it is the best - but I will say that I am constantly amazed at the flexabilty it gives one. I know others have posted on other programs that are free that they like. Just for information I know that if you do not get the very latest version of Elements you can find the earlier one at discounts of 25 to 30% off. I believe Elements 9 is the latest and I'll bet most would not notice much difference. Wipe the egg off your face now - it will start to smell after a while and go out and embrace the day. Well - at least tolerate it. Maybe if I keep writting we can egg GL to add some more of his pictures and insights. For those that have not viewed his web site; I would highly recommend,

Actually snaphappy the steeple photo is mine. I dont see what you are talking about but its probably these old eyes of mine. It could also be the name escapses me which occurs when you take shots of builings with the camera at an angle. I just liked the contrast of a blue sky, white cloud and steeple. :!: I also enjoy taking my shots from different positions and angles.
