Very cheap lens/very old camera

Ok, the following photos have some flaws. If I had taken them with the latest "L" lens on a new full frame I would not even post them. But these were taken with a 99 cent (plus postage) Komura 500mm lens mounted on a circa 2004 Pentax 6mp K100d. I am posting these to show those of us who cannot, or will not, spend big dollars on a hobby that they can have a lot of fun with much less expensive equipment

You've made a great point! There can now be TWO levels of G.A.S. One is for new, ever-reaching-for-top-of-the-line gear; and TWO is for buying the least expensive older gear (that was very excellent in its day). It falls in line with G.A.S. Support Group rules: Always be prepared to find, and/ or on the lookout for, gear that can provide more fun, or can improve your position, photographically, WITHOUT REDUNDANCY.
I therefore applaud this post. Very nice pictures!

Very educational. Gives fuel to the "it's the photographer, not the camera" school of thought... Makes me want to stretch my more modern and much more sophisticated equipment to the limit... Thanks for sharing.

You know, of course, that it's posts like this that will put an end to UHH. If we can't keep discussing which expensive piece of equipment to buy, what's the point? :D

Beautiful shots.

I'd always thought that a great photo was because of the person behind the camera, this only shows it's true! Lovely pictures.

That reminds me. I have some old stuff I have to bring. Remember those looong telephoto lenses from the 1970's? I have one that's something like 70-200mm, and it must be a foot long.

Well done! And okay, I'm guilty of coveting the latest and greatest, and I spend a lot of time looking for the faster, quicker, smaller gadget. I get it that a great photographer can outwit me with his cell phone camera or by holding his finger over the pin hole in a box with film. But I'm not a great photographer, I am a late bloomer following retirement. All I'm saying is that when it comes to getting a great shot I want all the aces I can get on my side of the table. Life is short and getting shorter every day. Enjoy the ride!
