If this is the top of Upper Yosemite falls I did that hike this spring with my daughter and niece. You got a fantastic shot. Better than anything I took up there. Where were you standing? At the very top or down on the viewing ledge.

I'm sorry, but I don't remember. I should pay more attention. I don't remember a viewing deck. I think I just got as close to the edge as I dared from the trail.

This is a great shot ! beside the unusual angle and the "vertigo" effect, your exposure is spot on.

I personally prefer water to freeze in motion as you did. The silky effect of a long exposure looks unnatural and artificial to me.

Great job and thanks for sharing

Great shot. I work in Yosemite and I hear about people doing stupid things all the time there. Last year, 3 people from a church group fell to their death when they went over the safety rail at Vernal falls. First, a 22 year old lady went into the water to get a better camera angle. When she started to go over the falls, a 26 year old friend tried to get her, he also went over. The 3rd guy was 24 and went over trying to save the first two. This happened around June/July. They finally found the third body last month. Oh yeah, there are warning signs posted on the safety rails saying "Do not go in the Water, YOU WILL DIE!!!" We get a few fallers every year there. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, obey the signs.

You had to climb down to it. Narrow steps handrail on the up hill side. If you went down it you would have remembered. Here is a shot of my daughter with her baby climbing down to it. We did this in May we did NOT go anywhere near the water. It was a torrent.

Now that I see your image, I'm thinking it looks familiar.

Great shot. Personally, I think a longer exposure to silky-smooth the water would detract from the power displayed in your shot. Thanks for posting.

Dramatic photo, but I'm having trouble with the scale, or perspective. I need something to give an idea of the relative size, and also which way is up.

I agree. That is one powerful waterfall. I don't think you want to soften it.

I love this photo! But...it gives me vertigo.
It needs something so we know where we are as we're looking at this. Maybe a tree to illustrate "up and down", maybe a big rock with sunlight on the top, maybe a Chevy Volt on fire.
Just something we can mentally "grab onto" and have a better idea of where we are, and what we're seeing.
It must have been way-cool to be there, taking that picture!

Danilo, in my older age I find myself having dreams about heights that wake me right up. Never had that problem before. This photo kind of gives me the same feeling. Nothing to grab onto.

THis view makes my stomach feel a heck of alot better ............ Beautiful shot (the original)!!!

Except that laying it on it's side robs it of that majesty!

You know, this shot scares me more than the waterfall!

Why is that? The shot or the subject? There were handrails. That baby was laughing hysterically the whole way down. It is amazing none of us went over from laughing with her.
