Hi all so happy to find a forum where I can get some answers when I'm confused. My name is Chere and I have been playing with photography since I was about twelve and still have that Brownie Hawkeye. I have taken a year at the Jr. college here and won an award for the most advanced student. Was just hungry to learn about what I was missing. I have also won a few internet contests. A couple years ago I moved into digital and thank goodness most of my canon lenses from the 35mm can be used with the digital.
I am now trying some night sky shots after visiting Peter Lik's gallery. I was blown away with his work and was wishing that I was 20 years younger so I could do even more than I do.
I presently live in Central AZ just south of Sedona and have a motorhome for traveling. I am single so I can jump in and go anytime and anywhere except have to take the 5 1/4 Chihuahuas and cat with me. I am 71 and want to do this as long as the body and spirit agrees with the brain.
I mostly do nature shots and feel I have to capture them because they will never be the same. I do have some shots on my Picturetrail but wasn't sure whether I could post that address.

Welcome - most likely you will not learn much from me except that I can yammer on, but it's always nice to see what others are doing and get a view of their perspective on their world. I believe that if you go to "My Profile " above you can list your web page or link to a photo sharing page you mentioned you had. I really don't know if there are any restrictions for adding an address in any of your postings - you can always try. You can also add pictures to any of your posting for others to share by an attachement below. Some are free with their comments which I like and others need a little coaxing. I have added some that I would appreciate your imput on. As you can see I'm all over tthe map as to what I like.

I really like the first two shots but the third one is too busy and leaves me confused.

The third one is a at least a little out of the norm, but contrary to what some think there was not any photo editing used. While going up a staircase in a clock tower across from the church I noticed there were littlle peek hole covered with what I believe is milk glass. I took several shots and I'll admiit it is one of those pictures that most have a thought on. Mostly the thoughts run from weird to "looks like a gothic painting", - I have yet to decide. Thanks for the look and comment. I have added another, that was taken in the other directction.

I like your bike trail photo... crisp and sharp, good composition. I especially like the tall grass in the lower left.

Your swan is too blown out... there are no details in the feathers... You could use a catchlight in the eye unless the swan was sleeping. Hard to tell. The background is nice and sharp. I think it should be the other way around.

Ghent... needs to be much sharper... and there are some exceptionally blurry areas that do not add anything to the image, esp. in the lower right.

The swan was too blownout - yes true enough. Picture was taken early afternoon, not a cloud in the sky. A prime example of why shooting during the bright of the day should not be done. The "trial" picture - the only saving grace here was there was some clouds floating around, one mostly covered the sun and I got low to the ground. The Ghent photo will never be any clearer or focused - as noted it was shot through a milk glass window for effect; as mentioned many people seem to have an opinion as to good or bad - which is good as if everyone liked everyhing then I would worry about all. I do thank all for all comments and the above are all the lame excuses I can come up with on short notice. Have added another or two, just for the heck of it that I also have some issues with. How about you all?
