I went to the local botanical garden today and found this flower. It was the only one of it's kind in bloom. I found several more plants of it's type but I never found a marker with it's ID and I would love to know what it is.

Thanks!!!

Mystery (to me) flower

I don't know, but it looks like a Carnation. What ever it's called it's a beauty.

I don't know if it's a relative of the carnation or not. It's a big flower...about the size of a baseball and the plant was about 2 foot tall.

Thank you for looking and responding!!!

It is very pretty Dodie, but I can not help you. If it does not grow in my yard I have no clue! Hope you find out what it's name is!

I think you'll find it's a variety of poppy, judging by the leaves and the way the buds droop.

I agree another's response. Both the leaves and the buds make me think of poppies. The blossom itself is a little unusual for a poppy.

Don't think it's a poppy-went here and couldn't find one close.

If that link isn't all on one line it won't connect.

I Googled poppies.

It might be a Peony Poppy.

I think you are correct. The leaves are definitely from the poppy family but the blossoms are like peonies.

There were poppies in another bed on the property that were the regular variety so they weren't as tall as these. The leaves did have some similarity. Thank you for your input.

Thank you for trying to find out what it is. I have gotten so curious that if I can't find it, I may go back to the garden and see if some one there can tell me.
