If you are used to other formats... say the one that Canon uses for it's DSLRs, then a mirrorless will be different.
If you like experimenting then this should be fun... but if you aren't familiar with the architecture, don't give up; just keep at it and you'll get the hang of it.

I've shot the Canon mirrorless eos m3 for two years as I travel so am very familiar. It is a 24 mp cropped sensor camera and does a very good job. Weakness is focus speed for action sports. Image clarity is excellent. Just want a top end rangefinder leaf shutter full frame and it looks like the Alpha 7 series more than meets that need. The images I've seen on it rival those of my professional nikon D4 which is saying a lot.
The first clue when you start looking at top quality images on the Sony Exmor sensor (I think that's the name of the sensor) in it is the jpeg image size...many are 24 mb sizes.
