This is my contribution to the Native American Pics. This was taken at the Intertribal Ceremonial in Gallup, NM. My favorite.

The Pow Wow at Riverside Park is something I look forward to each year. They celebrate their heritage and display their pride in service to the United States Military.
God bless them !

Great photographs but, I always wonder why event organisers do not have one edge of the arena clear with no distractions so you can get better pix

On the outskirts of Hastings, the town I used to live at in England, many of the American Indians who work in England as coal miners, have an annual Pow Wow and bring all the teepes and sweat lodges and do their thing, I got to take pics amany years ago but the negatives have long gone.

Thanks you Bipster, for your contribution here. Sequoyah was an extremely important figure among the Cherokee. He, as I understand it, was part of a faction that moved west voluntarily and was living in Arkansas when he invented the alphabet. There are memorials, recognition, and celebration in Arkansas of his presence there, where I grew up.

Thanks for these fine pictures. I haven't made it to the Elk Festival yet but have intended to, that or the big Pow Wow held here in the Denver area each year. Perhaps soon.

Thanks whitewitch, and hello. Looks like that guy is just hanging around waiting on another pilgrim boat to land so he can do a little trading or perhaps a few haircuts. :-) Good one.

Hi Gessman, how are ya doing? Thank you. Yea, that was at Old Fort Niagara which was built in the War of 1812. Many battles there. I'm sure prior to that, there was trading going on because literally over the water is Canada, just a canoe away. There have been many archeological excavations that have uncovered Indian villages from hundreds of years ago. I love that kind of history... :-P
