I now have my third camera that was converted to IR. I tried filters and they just don't work well, the exposures are too long. With the conversion you can hand hold the camera and exposures in bright sun are mostly 1//500 to 1/800 f8. I always shoot at f8 as if you stop down too much you are likely to get a hot spot in the middle of your image as IR light works differently than regular light.
This was taken with a Nikon D200 18-70 mm lens. It takes some processing in CS5 to achieve this result.
Desert in Ir
Very cool picture. How did you 'convert' your camera to IR?
I sent it to Lifepixel in Washington state.
If you have it converted all you can use if for is IR it is not an option that you can use it as a regular camera.
Thanks,
Don.

This is something I might consider doing. Who did your conversion?

Very nice effect and photo. I love your composition and crisp focus.
