I've been really impressed with Tamron. I have the SP A09 28-75 mm F/2.8 LD XR Di IF AF Lens (had to copy and paste the name, too long to type) and it is much sharper than my 18-70 Nikon, and I would say at least rivals my 50mm 1.8 Nikon prime (zoomed to 200%, still no discernable difference)

I have the Tamron 18-270 lens as well. It never comes off my D90 anymore.

I have had my 18-270 lens for several months and really like it.

The only time I change lens now is for macro work.

What do you folks think of this lens for a Canon EOS Rebel xs? I have 18-55mm lens, and a 75-300mm lens, but find changing lenses and missing the 55-75 range frustrating for grandkids soccer, baseball games, etc. I had an old Minolta with a slide zoom and liked it so much better than the twist ones, but hoping my old mind can get better at it quickly. And what do you think of a Sigma lens for this? Is Tamron better?
Thanks all........

I bought my Tamron 18-270 several yeas ago when i first came out for Nikon D60. It is still on the D60 as my backup. I now have a Tamron 28-300 for my full frame D600 and for the money you just can't beat it as a walk around lens. I am so looking forward to the 150-600 when it comes out for Nikon. From the pictures posted here it seems awesome.

I'll probably get something like an 18-270 eventually, but I need to save up for a while. In the last 9 months, I upgraded my camera A330 to A77 (anyone want to buy an A330???), my printer (Pro-100 on sale - $99 after rebate), Macro lens (using said rebate + sale), my 70-300 (replacing my kit 75-300 (anyone want a kit 75-300??) and just yesterday ordered an HVL-F43AM flash!!!!...of course I could think of several other lenses I'd love and a better tripod to mount everything on....

I traded in all my Canon, kit glass for the Tamron 18-270 several years ago. I took it on a cruise, and never changed the lens. It took wonderful photos during and after the cruise. It is still my main walk-around lens. It was originally bought for my Canon 50D, but now resides on my 7D. Good all round lens.

I rented this lens for an African Safari. I'm happy to tell you it met all my needs and performed well in a very difficult environment.

This lens seemed to hunt to focus.
I purchased a sigma 18-250mm & I am very satisfied.
Seems far superior to the Tamron.

Tamron is a great product. We started out with 28-300 on my wife’s Nikon camera. It was sharp. My wife suggested I buy Tamron lens 90mm Macro and Trade in the 90mm Nikon I had which I was not happy with. When I received the Tamron 90mm macro, I found it to be very sharp and a pleasure to use.
Few months ago I bought the Tamron anniversary 70-300 lens, which is very, very sharp. My wife comments that she loves how sharp that 70-300 is. Today I bought the 17-50mm Tamron lens and I find it superb.
I also have Nikon lenses but I find myself leaning more to Tamron lenses. I use a Nikon D2X, and D200 and D80 cameras.
Cheers,
hanser
