More snooping by Obama and his gun-ban buddies. Incidentally, he's managed to get several major medical journals to promote fraudulent anti-gun "studies." The CDC, which is supposed to be a non-political agency, has also jumped on the anti-gun bandwagon, using the idiotic excuse that gun violence is an "infectious epidemic."

Yup. The NRA will be kept busy.

Traveling into Canada with a close friend for weekend of Salmon fishing the cute Canadian Customs official asked if we owned any guns. So after my buddy lists his "arsenal" of several and I do the same, she asks what we are afraid of? Pretty much nothing we relied in unison! I'm pretty sure we we tailed by the RCMP the whole trip.....

This is another example of a purposeful misinterpretation of reality by Fox and others for purely political purposes - much like rational (and optional) end-of-life planning with patients has been called "death panels". Florida even went so far as to try to make it illegal for physicians to inquire about weapons in the home. No one is suggesting that "doctors grill you on gun ownership".

As a primary care physician, when I do a well child visit, especially with a young child with young parents, we talk about safety issues in the home - this includes cabinet locks, safety caps, swimming pools, car safety seats, pets, and yes - weapons in the home, and if so, we discuss the safe storage of those weapons. This has absolutely nothing to do with being judgmental or trying to take anyone's weapons away - I have my own small arsenal and a CCW permit which I use. It is all about keeping children from getting unauthorized and unsupervised access to very deadly tools. It is about preventing a tragedy. I also ask suicidal patients if they have handguns at home, and if they do, I suggest that they have a friend or relative hold on to them until they are feeling better - the presence of a handgun making suicide so much easier. Even Abraham Lincoln's friends took his weapons from him on several occasions when he was suffering from depression, according to the book "Lincoln's Melancholy". All this has nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment, but has to do with common sense. So let's all show some common sense when we discuss the issues around weapons.

Hey there SB. It's good to hear a calm and considered opinion.
I, too, have a small arsenal...multiple handguns, plus several rifles and shotguns.
I'm annoyed at the hysteria about the men with blue helmets in black helicopters coming to pry the guns from my hands.

The political right and the NRA want us to be in fear of confiscation.

Saddest is how my NRA has evolved from being an educational entity to being an echo of Rush Limbaugh.

I'm eighty and became a junior member when I bought my first rifle at eleven years old. I belong to three guns clubs shoot, at least once per week and reload all my ammo, except for .22LR.

I'm certain that I'm going to get coals of fire heaped on my bald head by some T party fanatics and true believers Bring it on. I'm a former Army officer and love my country as much as the draft-dodging guy that should be dead or in jail...his words...not mine

Would you care to guess how many guns one would be able to 'legally' own, if it weren't for the NRA? And in all fairness, their million(s) dollar lobbiest, since we all know, the laws are written, and passed, to the highest bidder these days.

Michael,
What are you talking about ?
I'm not aware of any restrictions about the number of guns that I own.

The NRA has nothing to do with my ability to have as many as I can afford.

Keep in mind, before you attack me, that I am a target shooting enthusiast and not an antigun person.

Dry your tears and enjoy safe shooting. It is a handful but vocal group like Mayor Bumbleberg that will run in circles, scream and shout about our hobby.

My respect and regards

I am getting tired of government choosing its priorities based on political agendas. On January 15, 2014, I lost my son Nicholas to a heroin overdose. I would venture to say a lot more of our children are dying of drug overdoses than those being lost to gun assaults.
I am not trying to quantify these atrocities, what I am trying to do is put them in perspective. Why is it that despite the billions spent on law enforcement, my son and every other kid in the town I live, can score drugs but the authorities have no clue?
We went after terrorists because they attacked our country, these same terrorists are attacking the future of our country and all the democrats want to do is take our guns away from us.
I think we had better get our priorities straight.

My heart goes out to you and your family. May the gentle Jesus give you comfort.

Please have respect for those who are not Republicans and who differ in opinion from you.

Labeling democrats as those who want to take away our guns is silly .

Good natured kidding is one thing I get at my gun clubs, but my fellow gun lovers are polite,in their comments.

I took one for the team and my battle scars are my credentials .

Mister Cheney and his lies got too many of our kids killed and wounded.

Jesus threw the money lenders out of the temple and the war profiteers are worse than any usurers.

May you and your family be comforted in the terrible grief of losing a child.

Sincerely,
Al

Seems to me a majority of those who wish to take away my Second Amendment rights are democrats.

So it is OK for you to be partisan, and attack Cheney while those kids that got killed under obama's watch don't count?

You can't eat your cake and have it, too.

The military industrial complex is too blame. My boss,Ike, warned us.

Obama did not get us into the the wars that are charged to the credit card.

At least the wounds that I suffered and still carry were not for the benefit of Halliburton and big oil.

Yeah, go ahead and like Michelle Bachman, Ted Cruz and other slaves of the Koch bros., blame the current CIC, for wars he inherited.

This is no different from blaming all Jews for the crucifixion.

Funny how you chastise me for being partisan, yet you lump me in with Bachman, the Koch brothers, et.al.,....funny how you guys on the left get all uppity when your viewpoints are brought into question, but it is alright to attack the opposition. Typically liberal.

As far as jesus and the jews, if your god exists, i have a feeling he set his kid up for this, and nobody is to blame but the old man. Why is it you theologians always bring god into the discussion, yet refuse to give him any of the blame for the atrocities against humanity? Let me guess: free will or the devil made me do it.
My kid is dead because of poor choices, I will have to live with that, but to have this moron in the white house dictate his leftist policies as the potentate he is, is an abomination. His left wing agenda is anathema with everything this country stands for.

Yeah, I agree, Ike was the last president we had who was a statesman. I don't think we will ever see the likes of him again.

I thought you were going away.
