I would like to hear from past and current owners of the Nikon D3300 on how it will perform in very Cold Michigan Winter weather. Also how do the SDHC memory cards perform in very cold weather. Advice and suggestions will be much appreciated.

My son used a D3100 in NY winters, down into the teens, with no problem. As was posed about a recent cold football game, the batteries are the first things to go. Keep them warm. Photographers take pictures at the north and south poles, so I think the person is in more danger than the gear.

Thanks, yes I must get a second battery, I am considering a Used one at B&H Photo, I have bought most all my photo gear and cameras from them, seem to be a quality and reputable company.

I began using a Nikon D3300 in January. I have never been to Michigan. I live in Alaska, which is a cold-climate state. So far, I haven't had any issues. Admittedly, I perform slower than my camera in cold weather. When I do spend a lot of time outdoors, I do keep my spare battery warmly in my pocket.

I guess I am also concerned with "Condensation" issues. Both in Cold & Hot weather, I have read up on it, although as yet NOT allowed myself to be confronted with this condensation issue in my Photography. I have not used my D3300 outside in the Cold winter climate or in the Hot & High humidity of the Florida Summer weather. Mainly have avoided it due to the expense of replacing damaged Camera and Lens. Am I overly cautious or just being careful, I am confused on this issue.

I’d say too cautious. Don’t overthink it. If you want to get out in the cold winter or hot summer, do it. Just enjoy yourself!
