Yup. Maine. Ice-out on the Sebago Lake may not even happen this year... Ice encases our road, the least treacherous place to walk the dog these days is on the lake. Three of these are iphone images - the ice was just too challenging to stay on my feet and carry my camera at a the same time.

Wow, Kerri. A beautiful series showing the starkness of winter in Maine plus a delightful new Avatar. Very well done on both.

Beautiful shots. I love the way the snow sits on the rocks in no. 1.

Thank you so much, John! Not hard to take stark pictures up here - that is all there is... Thankfully work is calling me to California in the morning - it is a long time since I've seen anything but black and white... mostly white :)

Now, when you say 'eternal winter,' you don't mean eternal as in like forever, do you? Heaven help us!!! Because it sure feels that way down here, lol.

Nice series, Kerry. Love the compositions, and especially good shots with a phone camera! Good job!

These are absolutely stunning, Kerry! You caught the cold and vastness just beautifully. Super!

Very nice Kerri. You really nailed the exposure for the snow in #1.

Koalaroo, Thank you so much! I am ready for a visit to your corner of the world though. The snow sits on the rocks like that a good part of the year up here.

Kerry, these just depict winter-in-the-northeast to a T. And does appear to be eternally white. Love how that little piece of foliage tries to rear up through the snow in the foreground of #1--image of hope. love your new avatar.

I am sorry Randy, no end in sight. I am seeing an end to me though, if this goes on much longer. Finding photo ops in this arctic wilderness helps me to hang on :) Thank you for your kind words - and take heart you'll get spring before I do :)

You remember the coldness! Linda, think of all the stunning shots you could have if you just returned to Maine and suffered along with the rest of us!!! But thank you Linda, it makes my suffering worthwhile :)

Thank you so much for your comment, Jack! It is no easy thing to manipulate the camera settings when your fingers are numb :)

Carly, if I survive, I am going to go back to see if that little twig in #1 comes to life in the spring! Thank you so much for sharing this stark winter experience with me!

I'd love to do that walk with you but by the time I get enough underarmour and layered up for warmth, I can't really move! And my dog is more of a wimp than yours when it comes to the winter walks.

  Totally understand - takes me half a day to get all those layers on! You are welcome to come for our brief interlude of warmth - about two weeks in July!
