nikon D7000 battery grip.
I have a Nikon D7000 with a battery grip 1 battery in the body the other in the grip when you have to charge the batteries you have to remove the grip. cannon has both batteries in the grip. why did Nikon not come up with the same design.
For the same reason that some automotive engineers thought it would be a good idea to put the oil filter in such a place that an access panel was required in the passenger side fender panel to change the filter.
Some things do not make sense to the folks that actually have to deal with the end results.
I am wondering why people drive drunk on the wrong side of the road...
The Nikon D200 has both batteries in the grip. So not all Nikons are like the D7000 grip.

With the D7000 + other Nikons except the D200, yes you still have a battery in the camera plus another 6 or 8 AA batteries in the grip or as you have is a second single battery like is in the camera.
With the D200 you had a choice of 2 camera type batteries or a battery tray for AA batteries.

I have a battery grip on my d300 and on my d7000. The 300 has two batteries in the grip and the smaller 7000 has only one. Do you think the width of the camera body and the length of the battery may have something to do with it?

They think they are in a different country?
I don't leave the battery in my D7000, just the grip.

My D100, now converted to infrared, also has 2 in the grip. My D700 like the 7000 has one in each. They will hold the new
Nikon EN-EL4a which is larger so maybe that's the reason. However at $120 I'll wait for the battery to arrive as a gift from somewhere.
