I have the Gorillapod SLR. It works great for the camera, but can also hold a flash anywhere you want one.

The only problem I see is that it can't support the weight of my Canon 20d when I use the 24-70L lens. It is a heavy lens. But it would easily handle any kit lenses.

It is suppose to hold 6. lbs. Is that not true?

That's what they claim, however, it seems to me that the joints in the legs can't handle the weight sometimes (20d/24-70L = 4 lbs). The photos on the Gorillapod website show the slr model always wrapped around something to anchor it, but not support the weight with the legs.

I like it though. I got it to fit into the saddle bags of my Harley and I find that I don't take my premium lenses a lot anyhow.

They make one for the iphone too. A friend of mine has it and used it last week to clamp his iphone on a railing overlooking a pond at sunset. He did a time lapse sequence of the sunset that came out awesome.
