Any point & shoots with Wide Angle?

Looking for a point and shoot with a wide angel of 15 to 18 mm. Looks as most go as low as as maybe 22 to 28. Do not much care about the top end and I carry my DSL with a 55-200 mounted. I'm aware that I will lose some quality in both the lens and computer chip but would like one to use in a pinch instead of changing lens. Thanks

The problem with point and shoot cameras on the wide end is basically the very small sensors. I do not know of any that would be that wide if you are using the 35mm comparison. This is why professional and advanced photographers want full frame (35mm) sensor DSLRs. We love the long end but the price you pay is on the wide end because even with the APS-C sensor you have to have a 11mm lens to have a 16mm wide angle using a 35mm comparison.

Most point and shoots are about 24-28mm at the wide angle setting. You may find a point and shoot that has a adapter lens that will make a wider shot- I know they make them for Telephoto shots. There is a new idea that has hit the market that would work for you- they are now making point and shoots that take panorama shots automatically. You set up the camera for a pano shot- push the button, and physically turn your body to take a wide series of shots- the thing is, the camera stitches the shot together for you- you don't have to do anything!!!! Or you can take a series of shots and use software to stitch the photos together yourself... Both work so well, you cannot tell it is more than one shot!!! Canon,Sony and I know more brands make these now!!!

Yes- I had forgotten about those. Just one of the nice things about losing one's mind - everything is new again; over & over. I do think you for mentioning them; I have no idea of the quality of the process or the cameras themselves but I will do a little research.

My phone does crazy wide angle shots. It has 4 lenses. The only issue would be how big do you need the photos.
