Why is it ALWAYS around the holidays people pass away? My brother-in-law passed yesterday.But it was a blessing,he had so much wrong that it just turned out right for him.Gonna spend the next 2 days in Dbn Hgts with my sister and family.I hate funerals!

It's hard to deal with death during the holidays. But perhaps concentrating on the birth of Jesus will put life in perspective. The miracle of life by definition includes the ending of life. Hope the funeral is one of celebration of a man's life and not so much a mourning of his passing. Take care...

Choice. My 90 year old Aunt who has to do dialysys and depend on oxygen has decided to do hospice after the holidays. Now that we know when, we'll show her daily how much we love her and will miss her. But we will respect her decision.

So sorry to hear about your loss. My family lost a dear friend just a few days before Thanksgiving 5 years ago now and I still think about her whenever Thanksgiving comes around. (She was the kind who would get her Christmas cards out so that everyone got them the day after Thanksgiving. I still miss that.) Sometimes I think these things happen around the Holidays so that we are stopped for a moment and reminded why we celebrate holidays in the first place. We usually celebrate them with or thinking about our families and friends. Losing someone at this time reminds us to be thankful for what we have and to remember those who are gone.

This reminds me of a call I received last Thursday morning. It was 8:15 am. I was half asleep when I answered. The lady on the other end sort of sounded like my sister but not quite. I said hello and she said "I have some bad news. Mom died this morning." Since my mother is eightytwo I didn't immediately reject it. I said "Who is this?" and she said "Who is THIS?" I said "Larry" and she said "I'm looking for Abel." I told her she had the wrong number and she said "Thank you" and hung up. Lousy way to start the day. Even worse for her.
