... and source of frustration beyond belief!
What could I do to improve shots where I am inside... shooting at something outside on a bright, sunny day?
This was taken from under a dark gazebo-type roof. Not only is there BRIGHT sunlight, but there's the reflection from the water adding TO that.
(remember, I'm working with a point-and-shoot canon A550. It DOES have settings I've experimented with , some of the standard necessities... but no way to add additional lenses.)
You have my sincere thanks in advance, for any help/topic-specific suggestion(s).
This is one of those twisted pics where the background is the subject, framed by the foreground. In many pics, one blurs the background to make the foreground pop.
Didn't appear to work for me in the reverse, though!
I think it's nice. I like it.
The composition is very good. I like the idea of framing with the foreground. The reflection of the sun on the lake is not distructing but becomes part of the composition. If you want to reduce the reflection on water, a polarizing filter can be used if your camera has the filter thread.
Overall, the picture is very nice.
By the way, you may want to read my post "San Francisco Pictures" where I wrote some tips on taking good pictures.

Yep... you've got it... the reflection on the water is too much in my eyes. I'd like to tweak it more, but when I try, it makes everything else too dark.
I like the picture for the soothing atmosphere it sets... but that darned bright reflection, just kills it for me.
My camera is a point and shoot digital Canon Powershot A550... no way to add other lenses or filters etc. like the cameras the "Grownups" have *snickers*
I appreciate your comments and will look for your post. :)
Nice pic! If you want to get "fancy" go get a free copy (forever) of gimp at GIMP.COM it will let you reduce the glare on the water or change the whole tone of the picture. It's a great resource especially if you camera cannot take additional lenses....

Yeah, I already have GIMP 2.6. Just don't know how to USE it 'cause it's in pieces and titled with things that I have NO idea what they mean... and when I PLAY with them... I can't see any difference LMAO
It's all good... I'll learn it soon enough. I'm self-taught in pretty much everything I do and I do so much more than photography. Photography is my release, my pleasure and my passion :)
Glad you like it though! Thanks :)
If you have an opportunity to reshoot this same picture, I would do it early in the morning before 9 AM or afternoon after 4 PM. At this time of the day, the sun is at low position and would probably have less reflections on the lake.

Great point. It was around noon-ish and I wasn't thinking about the sun being so high... last Autumn.

Thanks!
