Arguably one of the BEST point and shoot camera's out there is now selling for $229.00. If you are in the market for a great point and shoot, check this out.

Wow... it was $229 this morning, and now it's up to $319!

One of the news shows had a gal with tips on shopping, and she said to beware of price switching. You see a super low price, and shop around the site, and when you go back to the item, the price has gone up.

I don't know if that's what they're doing, but it's a good idea to be careful. Clear your cookies, and see if the price has changed.

I just saw the price at $334.00 on my iPad. I'll check it on my computer later.

Just checked, twice, on my computer. It says $339. Don't know if I dyslexically misread the price on my iPad at $334, but it's certainly not the $229 you guys are saying.

Well, I know for a fact one of them sold for $229 because my friend purchased one, and he notified me of the price before I posted here. I've never seen the price go up that much and that fast in one day on any item, but I guess anything can happen online. Sorry folks.

I'm not complaining about the price because I'm not looking to buy one. I'm just curious as to how the price could change when it's supposed to be a fixed price on Amazon.

Reminds me of some controversy a few years back where selective recipients of a major catalog (I forgot which) got a different version, with different prices than other recipients got. Interesting.

Amazon is an umbrella for many vendors. I suspect if one vendor offers a fixed price, and the inventory is depleted for that vendor, then a new vendor may offer the same item at a different fixed price. I suspect this is what happened.

Regarding the "price swap" tactic, I don't think this was the case with this item, although it sure looked like it. However, you should always review your order before you hit the "buy" button to make sure the price you saw is the actual price you are signing up to pay.

It was only a one day sale, I bought two for gifts and I know three others who bought them as well at $229. I posted a link to the sale in this very forum yesterday after I bought mine. The seller was Amazon.

Nice! Enjoy those... I have one myself, but I paid $400 a few years ago.

I already had one which I bought around last Christmas & like you, I paid about $400 for. Your right too, I've enjoyed the heck out of it. I know the s100 is out, but $229 was an amazing deal for such a great little light catcher.

Compared to the S100, the S95 pictures are sharper. There is also a debate going on as to whether the new CMOS sensor is inferior to the S95's CCD. Regardless, for the price (below $300) the S95 is a steal.
