This holds up to 17.5 lbs and it gets good reviews. Also comes in different colors.

The manufacturer "rates" them at 17.5#, it can hold it up, but in no way can it steady that much weight. These have a true "working capacity" of around 5-6# tops, and not with the center column up either.

This is my goto pod. Easily fits in my bicycle back pack. It supports its load rating well. It is easliy configured to give you anything from ground level shots to its max height, and be configured as a very handy monopod. The ball head itself is a bargain.

I'm just kicking myself because that price is a STEAL!!!

Go for it. You cant lose.

Thanks Shooter, I'm just surprised by all the great reviews this has online. Maybe the "globtrotter" is better for larger systems as it's rated at 26.4 lbs.

Anytime. I had one in the store this summer, and with a Canon 7D and 70-200mm F2.8 lens mounted on it you could watch the tripod wiggle just by walking by it. It would work fine with something like a bridge camera though.

What would you recommend or sell for travel purposes?

That would depend a LOT on exactly what kind of travel you are asking about; air, car, backpacking? Do you have size limits? Do you have weight limits? What type of head are you wanting?
The Manfrotto "BeFree" design is what the Benro MeFoto is a knock-off of, it may work for you, but there are a lot of variables to consider.

Basically looking to keep in car and use in parks or possible backpacking. I'd like it to hold a max. of my canon 60D and 100-400 lens combo. I'm not familiar to head types as I'm still learning but don't need a pistol type. Head similar to "mefoto roadtrip" should be all I need.

Look at this set of legs:

Here they are with the 496RC2 head in combo:

I don't sell new, my store is a used camera store but I do get them in from time to time. These are on sale at the moment and a very good buy. Extremely sturdy and lightweight. They are a bit on the short side but unless you are well over 6 foot tall it should not be a problem.

The MePhoto is a knockoff of the 3 Legged Thing design. Not as good as the 3 legged models though...Here is a link to my travel pod...Likely a bit expensive for you though...

This would be great if I was a pro! I'd rather put my money into additional lenses though. Thanks

Shooter,

I am curious to know how the tripod you recommend which has a load capacity of 11 lbs could be compared against the Mefoto which shows a 17 lbs capacity. I respect your recommendation, but what am I missing?
