I'm looking for a battery grip for a Nikon D70, not a D70s. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Check this Chinese site, I don't know how good they are.

The battery grips are a waste. They make the camera bigger and heavier. Just buy a second battery and keep it charged. Much less space and a lot cheaper. Dont get the knock offs, they are cheap also.

Didn't say why I needed it. The casing around the battery is broken and I have to keep it closed with gaffer tape. A battery grip would work instead, if I could just find one.

Try this site, I think it is what you are looking for, good luck.
Are you upset that Nikon didn't made a battery pack / vertical grip for the D70 ?
No worries my friends, Harbortronics does!

The Harbortronics VG-D70 is a $165 aftermarket grip that:
1.provides a means of holding the camera in a vertical orientation without changing the orientation of the hand,

2.allows for a second battery, essentially doubling the number of shots on a charge,

3.adds a second shutter release button, used in portrait orientation.

4.provides additional length to the camera body when held horizontally (landscape), particularly useful with larger hands,

5.increases the mass of the camera, helping to damp handheld movement,

6.provides a standard connector for use with remote release cables, stereo camera connections, and other remote control equipment,

7.provides an alternate connection for external power, using an industry standard connector,

8.includes a place to store the camera's battery door,

9.retains a tripod mounting thread (metal).

Thanks so much. $165 is a bit steep, since this is a backup camera to my D7000. But I will definitely give it some thought.

Search on e-bay. I have bought 2 from a seller in Hong Kong and both are actual Canon Grips. They also came with the aa battery tray which can be handy if your batteries die while away. I also bought extra batteries and the chargers have cigarette lighter adapters for them...Also I save about $500.00 buying them from there and I have not had any problems with either one...

This looks like your best bet. Even if it is your back-up it will allow you to take pleanty of shots when needed.

Thanks, but see my initial inquiry. I don't have a D70s. It's a D70. Nikon, and no one else evidently, want to support it.

Might be time to drop the D70 and upgrade. Looks like the price of a grip, if you can find one, might exceed the value of the camera.
