I wonder how they determine who gets what.

I like their quarterly 5% rebates. Till the end of December, I get 5% rebate on all Amazon purchases. Perfect!

I got one as well. I think it's a scam and I plan on calling Adobe to verify if it was in fact true. The letter itself didn't look legit.

Anyone else get a letter from Adobe regarding a 3rd party getting personal ordering info from their system? Apparently getting hold of encrypted info such as names, CC #'s etc. Also said it's under investigation.

No letter, just a email...

I also received a letter from "Adobe" yesterday, but I also received one from my Credit Union last week with a similar message. In fact my CU is issuing us a new card to thwart off any possible compromise.

I got the same notice (email) and a written letter. I am not accepting their offer. I use Lifelock and have for several years. It costs me $99.00 per year but the peace of mind is worth it. Moonshot

I have Adobe's ripoff "cloud" service and was notified by Email and several weeks later, by snailmail. I also confirmed by phone and letter.

Personally, I hope Adobe gets the s..t sued out of them for their negligence.

But I'm not optimistic about Adobe seeing any punishment, in light of far more egregious actions by other companies. For example, Bank of America for a period of about a decade illegally supplied confidential customer data to 3rd party telemarketing crooks. The data enabled the crooks to steal money from BofA customers with fraudulent credit card charges and bank checks. BofA shared the take with the 3rd party crooks. BofA was never criminally charged, even though its acts were criminal. A civil lawsuit ended with BofA not paying a single dime to any of its victims.

This notification you received is related to the hacking of Adobe sometime last September and it is a follow-up to the e-mail they sent to their customers when the hacking was discovered.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/101085685

Once the hacking was discovered Adobe immediately reset their customers' passwords and sent them an e-mail with the necessary instructions how to create a new password.

Adobe's Chief Security Officer, Brad Arkin, made an official announcement. He mentioned this:

Quote:
•We are in the process of notifying customers whose credit or debit card information we believe to be involved in the incident. If your information was involved, you will receive a notification letter from us with additional information on steps you can take to help protect yourself against potential misuse of personal information about you. Adobe is also offering customers, whose credit or debit card information was involved, the option of enrolling in a one-year complimentary credit monitoring membership where available.
•We are in the process of notifying customers whos... (show quote)

The e-mail notifications seem to have gone out end of September/beginning of October. I got my e-mail the first week in October. Then, I got the follow-up letter last week.

This mess with Adobe is a reminder of a few of the tremendous dangers in the "cloud" concept. The scheme requires you to leave your credit card information on file with the company...permanently. The pile of credit card and other data is an incredible gold mine and invitation to hackers and other thieves. That fact, coupled with often lax security, makes it not only possible but likely that you will suffer crimes including credit card fraud and even identity theft.

The messages from Adobe recommend that users change their passwords at Adobe. Since the Adobe screwup is likely to lead to credit card and bank account fraud, Adobe also recommends:

- Monitor all your credit card accounts for potential fraudulent charges and other problems;
- Do the same with all your bank accounts

My comment: Thanks a bunch, Adobe. Now let's await the class action lawsuit against Adobe.
