Yesterday here in Maine, it was one of those seize-the-moment-days; so I grabbed my camera and with my shadow, Hap, close on my heels, went out for a landscape/foliage shoot. Why does he always think it is all about him?? So the would-be serious landscape photography deteriorated into frenzied fun... :) Here are a few results. Taken with my Panasonic GH3, 12-35mm F2.8 lens. C & C very welcome, especially would appreciate pointers on the back-lit shot - thanks!
How can you work on a day like today???
Reflections of Fall
Stealing the show, as always!
Flying Hap and his stick
Hap catching his breath and giving me a chance to practice backlit shots into the sun.
Do NOT tell me to get off the sofa!
He looks worn out after a gorgeously beautiful day. I can hear the wilderness calling me now.......
I like that reflection in the window shot and the close up of your dog at the end in particular.
Nice job on these, Kerry! Looks like a gorgeous Fall day. My favorite is the last shot , those big brown eyes will suck your soul away, lol.
With backlit shots, usually helps to use fill flash to add light to your subject. Or you can do it in Photoshop.

Really? How can that be done in Photoshop if it's too dark to see the details?? I know this one is lighter than some I've done with my black pooch this way....but how do you do that??
Very well done as usual, Kerry. Beautiful colors.

Hi Singing Swan! Yes, and he's still worn out today - lol! If you need some wilderness, Singing Swan, you'll find it in Maine... Especially in winter :). Be careful what you wish for! And thanks to taking time to stop by and comment ;)
Beautiful color and love the dog!

Thank you photphile! I'm glad you like the reflection image, thank you for
Letting me know ;). I was just feeling the creative juices start to flow
With that shot, when Hap started flying around like a crazy man... I've seen enjoying your fall photos - Isn't fall the best for photo fun?! 😊

Thanks so much, Randy! That last shot is just begging for your photoshop magic, but it will be awhile... I'm only on chapter 2... And why did I not think to use fill flash for the backlit shot?!?? I guess, I gotta learn to say no to Hap when he insists on joining me, if I'm ever going to be a serious photographer.

NO WAY!!!! Without the dog you would never succeed!! Don't you know he was the TOTAL inspiration for all that beautiful photography?? You would never have found that perch, or that beautiful waterline, or those gorgeous trees without his help. Why do you think he's so tuckered at the end of the day?? It's from keeping you on the straight and narrow all day to make certain you made the best photos possible. I know this because I have one that treats me the same way. Shucks, I couldn't even push the button if she wasn't there to tell me when and how!! :) :) :) :)
And a visit to Maine, to a rocky coastline, is on my bucket list. 'Til then I'll visit vicariously through your lovely photos. Thanks for sharing!!
You saved the best 'til last Kerry.

Wonderful images, Kerry - full of joy and beauty.
I admire your wanting to acquire some serious pp skills, but I was able to pull a little detail in Hap's face using just Picasa and Photo Gallery (Windows 8 version) :)
