Good morning Hoggers,

Any help is appreciated.

I use Acronis Backup. Backs up windows and all files. A restore is easy. I do it weekly..

I'm glad you asked because I'll be interested in the answers you get. I keep hearing about that, but I've never done it. I have all my data on my D drive, and I have discs to reinstall programs.

I figured that if I mirrored the drive, I would also be copying all the little glitches and junk on the drive. And how often would I do it? Daily? Weekly? Right now, I use SyncBack to back up about ten important folders.

Don't know what type of computer you are using but on a Mac there are a great number of ways to "back-up". During our working careers we would build a station so it was all installed, apps and operating system and peripherals, and then create a disc image of that station. If problems surfaced we would simply wipe the hard drive and install the disc image.
If it's self created files you are looking to back up you probably should invest in an external hard drive. There are a wide variety for multiple platforms these days, complete with back-up software, that are not much money. And all are quite reliable.

Absolutely. I had a virus a couple months ago. It struck 2 days after a full C:/ drive backup. Machine kept asking me for $300.00 because the FBI found child porn on my computer. Huh ????

I ran the Acronis Emergency CD and within 30 minutes my Laptop was back up running without a problem. My photos are on E:/ drive and backups are hosted on G:/ drive.

I purchased a Click Free to back up my hard drive. I purchased it when I bought my computer. It will restore my computer with all my programs, etc.

Thanks Sarge. This site looks like the answer. I will give it a try.
I have had a couple of laptop crashes in the past. I now backup my files to a 1TB WD drive weekly.
Thank you for sharing. Don

Thanks Jerryc41. I hope this question and the answers can help others as well. I backup my file weekly using a 1tb WD drive. That helps but I need more.
Regards; Don

Sarge 69. I also had that FBI virus. It was a scam and fooled a lot of people. I called my local Computer guy and he charged ne $50 bucks to get rid of it.
Everyone should be aware that it is a virus scam.

So that copied everything on your drive - a mirror copy?
