Picasa issue?

I recently went out and shot some scenes using my 7D and 5D MkIII. I shot Raw & .jpg with both cameras. Got some real keepers, and some losers. I did come up with an issue I've never seen before. While reviewing the pictures I noticed that there weren't any problems with the Raw shots from the 7D, but the Raw shots from the 5D Mk III were, effectively, covered with a red translucent film. The .jpg's from the 5D Mk III were not affected like that.
I exited Picasa and then opened the files in LR5, and there were no problems, pictures looked great.
Has anybody run into this issue?
Thanks.

Looks as though Picasa doesn't have the latest ACR installed. I think that would be Version 8.1.

Is that why only the 5D shots were affected? I did try to upgrade Picasa, but was told that I had the current version. I should have said, I'm using a MAC Pro Tower.

Google has not updated Picasa to read the 5DIII RAW (CR2) files. You will have to use your LR or some other program to edit them. I also have the 7D and 5DIII and have the same issue. TNmike

What??? Picasa doesn't have ACR. ACR is an acronym for Adobe Camera Raw. Picasa doesn't have anything to do with ACR. But, it's probably like someone else already said, Picasa hasn't been updated to read 5DIII raw files yet.

Picasa changes all RAW files to Jpeg.

Pepsiman, my version Picasa does not change the RAW files to Jpeg's until you edit and save the file and the RAW file is still there.

All:
Many times I shoot in both RAW and Jpeg and both versions are there. Picasa opens the RAW files from my 7D just fine but on the 5D MKIII the RAW files turn red like the OP stated that theirs did. In my research this is one of the things that can happen when an unsupported RAW file is loaded into Picasa. Also it adds an odd boarder to parts of the photo. TNmike

Thank you, exactly what I get. I like to load to desktop, open in Picasa, and get rid of the real dogs before I load them into LR5. guess that's no longer an option.
Thank you again.

Noela, that is kinda what I do except I have Elements instead of LR. So like you my 5D RAW files have to go straight to another editing program. TNmike

Why don't you install and use Zoom Browser that came with your Canon 5DIII - Its a great utility - weed out the losers - keep the keepers and save to a folder
