Ten seconds into the video she says being a pro is easyer then you think.........(click, thank you, but no thank you) I see people here who are better then me. I've seen some bad examples of a pro in real life. A model told me I took better pictures...... No I not a Pro, far far from it. But to state that....gees are you selling your youtube spot or what? Sorry about the rant.

Wow, wasn't that an interesting revalation. Here is a "professional" photographer saying, "Gee, I'm actually too busy to provide you with prints." Sort of like a professional mechanic telling you, "Sure, I'll look at your car, but don't expect me to fix it, hell, I might need to learn something about auto repair to do that!!!"

This is NOT me!

#1 - I am all for supporting Moms with Camera after all I am one - I am NOT a professional photographer nor do I take photos of anyone but my own children. (I do fully suggest if you are going to open a photography business that you have owned an SLR (digital or not) for over a year, understand Manual, take images that are in focus and not "artist" and be a LEGAL business).

#2 - I am a RED Head. Not shinny cooper penny red, but still a red head. Plus I would never wear that ugly hat. ;)

#3 - I think my voice sounds nicer than her's. Plus her laugh is ... :shock:

#4 - You will NEVER see a video of me on youtube... ok there is that one video, but ohhh hell if you said you saw it, it would make us both uncomfortable

She is correct. As our society degrades and as people largely begin to accept and settle for mediocrity served up by mediocrity, you really need to have less skill these days.

I just received a message from some "professional writer" telling me I can sell my articles to printed publications; that I do not need skill, that I can generate articles using the software she is also selling. She alluded to the "fact" that even writers for magazines like National Geographic and (get this) Omni Magazine use "our software" to earn huge incomes. Anyone else here see what is wrong with her statements? Anyone besides myself miss Omni?

I ignore YouTube videos for the most part. Except for cute kitten videos showing kittens doing all manner of cute kitteny stuff. They rule!

The MWACAttack is a parody. You should watch them and do not do what she says. The videos are very well done and very funny. She is poking fun at all the things the mom's with cameras do.

Now, she does have some good advice on how to match your camera strap to your purse.

I realize that this is a joke and geared towards people that get a nice camera and then the next week "open" up shop and start taking clients but there are tons of Moms With Cameras out there that are like me, just trying to learn how to get the best pictures of our children and learn all we can about our hobby. I find parodies like this boarding on mean and very demeaning to woman. To see it's been posted by a woman just makes it sting a little more.

The pejorative "MWAC" does not apply to you. You just described yourself as trying to learn about your HOBBY. The MWAC is the mom who took photos of her kids, then her friends kid's, and her friends liked the photos so now she thinks she is a professional. At no time has she studied the principles of portrait photography.

She and her friends have confused pictures of cute kids with good pictures of kids. If they are YOUR kids, of course they are cute! I have photos of my grandkids that I love. But they are snapshots, not portraits. Technically, they are way below standard, but to me they are great shots of kids I love. Confusing them as good images is a mistake!

She has only one camera, calls herself an "on-location, natural light, lifestyle photographer." This translates as, no studio, no lighting equipment or reflectors, and no idea how to pose or position people so they look their best.
The images are poorly posed, people are just thrown out in the sun so half the face has blown highlights. Arms and legs are cut off at bad places, backgrounds are too busy - too bright -and bound to have a limb or telephone pole growing from a head. Poses actually make an overweight person look heavier, skin problems are ignored, and there is bound to be a few bad examples of selective color.

She does not pay income tax, collect sales tax, or carry insurance. If you get hurt during one of her sessions, you are screwed. She thinks if it costs her $3.00 to print an 8x10, that selling it for $6.00 is actually a profit.

If any of these things are brought to their attention, they are insulted because "my family loves my pics." Of course that is what family is for - to tell you how great you are without regard to the fact they do not know what good photography is.

So you see, you are trying to learn - to get better and not trying to palm yourself off as a professional just because you have a nice camera. And if you ever did decide to do professional work, you would be way ahead of the MWAC.

I evaluate several of these people every week as they apply for positions. You have no idea how bad most of these people are. They deserve this You Tube parody!
