As I look at your pictures whether you arae a rank beginner or a highly skilled professional my question is always why did you make this picture? Each of us has a concepr of beauty and in the final analysis the only real quwationis "Is this picture beautiful to the observer?" I personally am not tying to emulate oil paintings, water colors, pastels or even sketches. My total interest is in making a beautiful picture and I am so thankful that this forum exists so that we can all share our percieved beauty with one another.

Henry, that is a nice shot. It's a little tilted down from left to right, but the mix of colors is nice, it conveys a peaceful scene, and nothing in the frame looks as if it should not be there.
Yep!
It makes me wanna step right through the screen and sit, quietly... for hours.
Beautiful.
I really like it. The reflection in the water and the color in the trees make it beautiful.

While viewing your photo it became apparent to me that doing so with a portable computer screen can change the view drastically just by the angle of the screen. When I first glanced at it, it appeared to be too dark, and the reflections in the water were barely visible. But by tilting the screen slightly, to a different angel, the picture lightened up to the point that the reflections were excellent.
If I had been using a desktop computer screen the view would have more accurately reflected an accurate image as
the viewing surface would have been at only one accurate viewing angle with a consistent amount of light on the screen.
It makes me want to go fishing. I think all of us want our photos to be good, great or whatever and when we receive a little bit of praise for them it further fuels the fire to get out and take more. I always have loved it and while not very good at it, at the end of the day it is that rare photo that makes me go WOW after I have taken it that makes it all worth while. I love that shot, it is very peaceful to me.
agreed about it needing straightening..but a minor thing..beautful colors..nice and peaceful..would love to be there..kayaking..lol
A coulpe have mentioned to straighten the picture; my question is would they make it straight by the river or by the bank. If one stands so they are not at a 90 degree to the opposite bank of a river does it not asppear to be slanted and in fact don't rivers flow? I undrestand what is being said just not always so sure to what extent one should always make thing s "right". Now the weird little thing I noticed is the little orange shaded mark in the pictures lower left corner - guessing maybe the top of a post or a sign. Very nice picture and what I like best is the sky - clouds and blue adds to any picture.

I believe the orange box is a name stamp indicating the photographer

I get the "straighten the picture" suggestion on frequent occasions. If your not perfectly square to the scene, such as shooting from the bank of a pond/river/shoreline it wasn't straight when you shot it. Being technically perfect isn't always reality. (Getting off my soapbox now.)

I agree-however, the creek in your scene appears to be very slow moving, and to tell the truth, if you hadn't said CREEK, I'd have thought POND. Therefore, in reality, it was more level than your image represents. An as a nearly-still body of water, the tilt is noticeable, and to me, detracted from the overall image.

Tend to agree with Jim on this one. Though it is a major problem for me to take a straight picture, despite levels and guides.

With all due respect to your opinion, I don't think the picture is tilted down from left to right. If you notice, most of the trees are straight up. If the picture is tilted down these trees will be leaning towards the right. The position of the camera is NOT perpendicular to the upper edge of the lake but rather at an angle which gives the impression that the picture is tilted.
Anyway, beautiful shot! Looking at the picture, I feel like I am there in person. Thanks for sharing.
