If you got 3 feet of snow, you must be close to the Rim area or Flagstaff. The rim runs about 8000ft.

Hello, I live around the base of the ski area. Were you any where near the recent fire?

Are you referring to the one near Alpine? My best friend lives there and had to evacuate with all her animals, dogs, cats, and horses. Luckily, they ended up with only smoke damage. But the area all around her won't look the same again in her lifetime.

Hello, I was referring to the fire in Reno. The fire near Alpine was truly tragic. Unfortunately, both were human caused

Hi Kalina... At first they reported it was about a half a mile from us, but was more around 2 miles, with the high winds blowing away from us not toward us at 50 to 85 mph. It was running up and down the canyons, and very hard to access many of the areas. No aerial chemical dumping either because of the winds. It did destroy 31 homes, many of them a total loss. Many had to evacuate fast and only had what they were wearing... they lost everything.

Living in Flagstaff off of a forest service road, I have a true appreciation of the dangers of fire. This year was the first in many that we were not evacuated at some point. Think snow...it may be cold but it is the moisture we need so desperately.

I hunted on the rim, just above Payson & Strawberry, for many years. I love that area. Almost moved to Flag many years ago, but didn't. Reno needs the rain/snow too, as we only get about 7" of rain per year. The mountain here usually get hammered with snow, and that's great, because we get all run off in the spring....;0)
