Since it is chit-chat, yes. I believe that the event is extraordinary because for the first time this country admit that they not were exactly 'innocent' of mass murder.
It is good for us (humanity) to see that things can change for the best. I do hope, maybe in vain, that this will start a true peace process with the Kurdish population.

Please notice the section name (non-photography talk), enough said.
EW and J
Im not sure what to think. I dont really follow world politics so I dont know what is going on now, but how does it help to apologize now for something that happen in the 30s...the people are still dead.
To me it would be like germany apologizing for what happen during WWII. It doesnt take away the fact that millions of people died in that war. I think the count is somewhere around 50 million.
When I think about kids who would say sorry....I would tell them I will know you are sorry when you dont do it again.
Well, it helps because Turkey has always refused to admit their crimes and the area is still an active battle field, about 30 dead per month, so one can hope that this small step will help mending fences.
This is not about the past but about the future.
It will only help if the death toll goes down. Like I said to the children...I will know you are sorry when you dont do it any more. Only time will tell ....
A tiny stone can start an avalanche... That is what I find this incredible... A pebble moved now??? waiting...
Well, the window of opportunity was narrow and short lived...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-16297414Why did the damned frogs had to rock the freaking boat? Even being french myself I really think that this ***** country of france needs to be taken down a notch. Their brand of 'pride' is hypocrisy. They derailed the accords of Damascus then that of Balfour, created the condition that would lead to WWII in the treaty of Versailles and come around to give lessons, hiding their colonial past under false sanctimony.
I just saw something on the news this morning about the french and the armenian genocide that would give credit to the french....no?
pebbles and avalanches.....
Yes, well the frogs want to up hand everyone so are creating a negative reaction by their 'It's not enough!'.
I wish more folks will eat frog legs... to extinction!
I read that a month ago sorry EW. If you speak the truth about war this statement is true. Every country that has been in a war has commited war crimes. Believe it or not the U.S.of A. has one of the worst records. That bill by the French is just rubbing salt in a wound.
P.S. I can't wait to see how many people tell me I'm wrong about my own country.

Not quite but the accusation of the french using oven in Algeria like the nazis? False.
This does not mean the french did not kill anyone, they did, between 300,000 to 1,000,000 depending who is counting. The Algerian war started with the rape of two french school teachers. As a retaliation the foreign legion(?) rounded up 45,000 men and killed them all. No excuse for that. Of course the truth is never told in France except in some circles. That showed the Algerians they had nothing good to expect from France and sparked the 'liberation war' that led to further excesses from both sides but never on the same scale. This happened in 1945, just after the WWII.
Pebbles and avalanches...
Note that this was not called a genocide because it was never about race, The sad irony is that the frogs were killing each others and so did the Algerians...
Conflict lasted from simmering in 1945 to 1962 when CDG pulled the military out, managing to get incredible concessions from Algeria and giving liberal immigration status to Algerians and most of North African.
Accusations of torture, murder, terrorism made at the time were all trues, from both sides.

Last time I ate frog legs was at Nathan's in Coney Island, they weren't imported.
