Trooper and the Ball

First time out with my new Canon T3i. Trooper is my daughter's German Short Haired Pointer and he is ball obsessed. Comments on the before and after processing. Do you leave the background in focus or blur it out. Did not follow rule of thirds as he is too fast to compose. Comments please.

Gotta go with the second one, Can't see any real advantage of going for the out of focus look. Maybe on a close crop it could help. Just one schmucks opinion. Nice dog.

ditto. with that dull background centering the subject makes sense
