The US dollar was never the reserve currency of all countries. It is still the currency of international trade.

I am not too sure i would want another 3 trillion dollars in the international marketplace. That would be almost 50% of GDP!

While the American currency still reigns supreme -- it constitutes $3.72 trillion, or 62 percent, of the $6 trillion in allocated foreign exchange holdings by the world's central banks -- the Japanese yen, Swiss franc and what the IMF classifies as "other currencies" such as the Chinese yuan are gaining. http://www.cnbc.com/id/100461159

Republicans in Congress have been salivating over the looming debt ceiling crisis. They were as excited as kids in a candy store, eagerly awaiting June when the debt limit would be reached and they could then once more hold the country and the rest of the world hostage to their now thoroughly discredited austerity mantra.

But, lo and behold, much to their dismay, the economy is doing well enough so that the limit won't be reached until September or October. And who knows, by then it may not happen until January or February.

So, let's see. They can't screw President Obama over the debt ceiling, they can't screw him over Benghazi. I can't wait to see what the next manufactured crisis is that they try to smear him with. Congressional Republicans are like a schoolyard bully who realizes that the kid he's picking on is smarter than he is and just humiliated him in front of the entire student body.
Republicans in Congress have been salivating over ... (show quote)

Republicans are doing something that anybody who happens to open their eyes can see easily - bringing legislation after legislation to the table over and over and over so that Liberal Democrat leaders can throw them in a pile, not read them at all, and never compromise on their spending spree ways of driving the country into the toilet. Republicans have created and passed numerous balanced budgets and handed them over to never be read too. It's not a matter of not liking what the Republicans come up with, it's a matter of throwing legislation pieces in a pile and not even looking at them. Democrats are not even creating a budget of any kind, whether balanced or not, which is illegal. ObamaCare was written and passed without even allowing Republicans into closed-door meetings about it - which is actually illegal too.

All of this is going to come back and bite Liberal Democrats in the ass before it's over. As we become Greece, it will become clear to the public that Liberals put us there. As ObamaCare costs trillions, fails, and health care becomes as bad as third world countries, it will become clear to the public that Liberals put us there. As our national debt payments on only interest to China becomes as high as the national GNP, it will become clear to the pubic that Liberals caused it. Then all hell is going to break loose.

And as someone else said, if you think Obama and the State Department are out of the woods on Benghazi, you're blind, not watching the hearings, or just plain stupid. This has the potential to be a bigger tar & feather impeachment than the Slick Willy-gets-regular-knobjobs debacle because people DIED in this one. When the facts are finally found as to specifically who told the military to stand down heads are going to roll and they'll all be Democrats who were intent on winning the election.

About your thread title... contrary to the beliefs of self-centered blind Liberals like yourself, Republicans are part of this country too. Whether radical Conservative or middle of the road, Conservatives have a right to speak their minds about over-spending and budget atrocities. Democracy was built on a multi-party system and three legs of government. It was not designed to be a one party controlled dictatorship with two "yes men" branches doing what the President wants - which is the goal of Obama. He speaks of the "voices" in opposition to his agenda. Those voices are Conservatism that made this a balanced government for 200+ years but it is now threatened by Socialism led by a Communist-raised Muslim megalomaniac.

Can you name a single piece of legislation handed down by republicans in the past thirty years that has benefited the majority of Americans?

Just as you can't spend your way to prosperity you can't cut your way to prosperity either. Just ask the austerity wracked Europeans.
Judging by your last sentence, you have swallowed the Kool Aid and lost your credibility.

I'll remember that backward illogic next time our personal budget doesn't balance and there's no more money left. According to you I can just start filling up credit cards to get what I want, not pay back as much as I spent, and continue to do that every month until the cards are full. Then I'll tell the issuers that I need higher credit card limits to keep spending more because my desires are always higher than the money I actually have. Eventually all the budget money available will be paying credit card payments with accruing interest and there won't be any real money in hand to live on.

The only one on Kool-Aid and lacking credibility is someone with no common sense mathematical ability who would encourage the lie that a country can survive by spending far more than comes in annually while having no budget to live by and borrow trillions to cover the lack while having no way to pay it back. That is a complete lack of fiscal responsibility that no individual, business, corporation, state, or country can endure without collapse.

This is typical of the way conservatives think. Do you honestly believe that the budget of a large, industrialized country set in a global economy is in any way comparable to the budget of a household? Get real. History, in fact, has shown us - not once, but many, many times - that cutting the budget in a recession is the worst thing you can do. No country - not one - ever budget slashed their way to prosperity. Spend, spend and spend some more and watch the economy grow. No, it doesn't work in your checkbook. But it works, beautifully, in a world economy.

Grassroots logic is logic whether it's Conservative or Liberal. Steve Forbes knows a government is run like a business. Mitt Romney knows a government is run like a business. Anybody with common sense also knows that a business of any size is operated in precisely the same manner a home is operated. I know because I've had several myself. Accountants run all three entities the same way. Although each is increasingly complex the manner of operation is the same.

Money coming in minus essential operating expenses equals remaining net monies that can be saved or used on non-essentials and investments for the future. Non-essential investments are good for growth only when there's extra to invest with - not when the family/business/federal budget is completely inside out and upside down.

You just go on thinking that you can spend your way out of debt. That is so backward there is no sane way to look at it. There's a big difference in spending what you have or spending what you don't have and stacking up debt that is insurmountable as a result. Debt that is insurmountable results in bankruptcy. Period.

Funny how you Liberals want it both ways and claim both ways are the right way because a Liberal is or was doing it. Yet a Conservative does the same thing and you're ripping on him like stink on a septic tank.

Clinton campaigned for Obama and spouted how his administration balanced the budget and had a surplus and he's still every Liberal's wet dream even today. Yet Obama has done precisely the opposite and stacked up more debt and spent more than all presidents before him combined and you all act like he's another Liberal's wet dream (don't bother with the old saw of blaming Bush because I'm not saying there wasn't a deficit in 2008 and I'm sick of hearing the parrot talk).

Bush having a deficit that is a fraction of what Obama has created was supposedly an atrocity but Obama creating a deficit four or five times bigger than the Bush-era level is supposedly the right way to attack the recessions. Nuts and typical Liberal lie-talk!

The fact is, this recession should have been over by 2012 if Obama's methods were correct and it wasn't - and still isn't. Obama had a completely Democrat Liberal-controlled Congress for two years and achieved nothing except waste. We'll be lucky to survive without becoming Greece until 2016 and real recovery may never occur at all because of this spend yourself out of debt mentality during a time when all high paying production jobs have gone overseas.

We can't spend what we don't have...Is that what you do with your household budget?

The "austerity wracked Europeans" have run out of money to pay for their programs. Can't spend what you don't have...

I don't have to pay for Republican wars and military pensions out of my household budget. I haven't seen any Republican presidents balance the budget either.

I notice a long silence on the part of the Republican apologists on this question.
