The crane on the left is a muture bird and the one on the right is a juvenile. Something has caused them to take off. There are two unusual itmes in this image: 1. I have never seen Sandhill Cranes in the water. and 2. It is raining so their feathers are slightly matted and the colors are very deep.

Spooked (Sandhill Cranes)
I think if you could crop this photo more it would be more effective. Too much on top...I think you could really focus in on the reflection of the birds. Love the action of it with the water splashing and the wings flapping. Great shot!

I am in total agreement with penny. the birds are fabolous and the details in the feathers. Where in Fla are you. Im in vero beach.
Great shot! We live near the mouth of the White River in Michigan and frequently see Sandhill Cranes knee deep in the river delta during their fall migration.

I was thinking magazine cover or article intro page when I cropped this image originally. I have attached a copy cropped to increase the focus on the cranes.
All the cranes that I have seen here in Florida have been on dry land or the dense areas of the wetlands and not on open water, so it is interesting to learn that they do frequent open water in other areas.
The image was captured at the Click Ponds near Viera, Florida. I am currently at Anastasia State Park in the St. Augustine area.
Spooked Cropped
I agree with the others, Fantastic action shot.
I do like it better in the cropped version. It's a remarkable shot. You even managed to stop the motion in their wings and the drops of water as they go up in the air and yet it still shows a sense of motion. Also it is so perfectly focused and the reflection is very nice.
Great shot. I, too, like the cropped version but the first one is very nice also.
Nice shot, catching birds moving that quickly is difficult ... you did well I think.
