Formed by wind and rain over the yrs I guess. Taken at Dixie park, Utah
Dixie park, Hoodoos
Clyde,
The formations, called Hoodoos, are formed by the relentless freezing and thawing of water which causes bits of soil to flake off almost everyday. There are about 300 nights below zero in that area so if you listen closely you can actually hear tiny bits falling off and the structures being made.
Did you get to Bryce Canyon too? Best collection of Hoodoos anywhere.

What you may want to try, or not. A closer crop just below the formations and some off of the pictures left side would move them out of center and make them appear larger to better draw the eye to the subject. The colors also appear somewhat washed out - maybe shot in a harsh daylight sun. May be able to add a little saturation and or adjust your levels if you have a photo editing program such as Photoshop. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, will give it a try. Was sunny that day and was walking up to the falls and out of wind, because of the elevation. patway was about 35 inches wide and worried about my grandkids going over the side. Thanks again.

I agree, cropping would help this photo, maybe an angle change when taking the photo also. I also agree with it looking as if washed out, but while on vacation standing in front of a photo opportunity until the light is right just does not cut it.
