Nice color, looks like a little lens flare to me. This is a great example where HDR might have helped save the areas around the sun. Even of you are shooting hand held, if your camera will do bracketing give it a try. With Nikon you have to take five shots to get the 2 stop spread, but it is worth the trouble. Look up Photomatix Pro and download a trial version and see what you can do.
thanks digital pictures are new to me. I have a canon rebel eos 6 mega pixels, I dont think it does bracketing but am not sure. I have download photomatix and will check it out. I had a 70 to 300 zoom and it was handheld. what does HDR stand
for? will have to research that one... and the program thanks for the help! Terrie
