JR1 is telling me that, on the contrary, the OP asked him to post a re-edit.

To me, the statement "no that is ok. I am good" in that context means don't do it.

Is it some kind of language difference? Would a reasonable person in the UK assume that that statement actually means "go head and post?"

I am sorry Admin but you have this wrong,

'No that is ok' in English means I am ok with it go ahead

'I am good' means I dont have a problem with what you are going to do

JR1 has done no wrong and even offered to take it down.

No, you are absolutely right, carry on.

i certainly hope it was nothing more than a misunderstanding . Whilst there are members on here that dislike JR1s " old headmaster " approach, we have to remember that we all have character traits unique to ourselves. He is a knowledgeable contributer and it would be a shame to lose him.

Is it possible to ask the poster in question which he meant? Rather than stir the pot until every one of us has piped in, whouldn't that be simpler?

This is not just two country issue. Even in USA area to area english diference are there.

I have been following JR1 I believe that for one he has of late been very civil. I hope this can be worked out. I for one have more problems with non photo trash ie. jokes that are not appropriate.

No = No
That is ok, I am good = No everything is fine as it is
example , waiter comes up and asks do you need a refill ,
my reply is no, thats ok , I'm good .
So does the waiter go ahead and give you a refill anyways ?
If a sentence starts with no, whats so hard to understand

I'd take that as a 'No', after reading the thread. Originally I thought 'Yes'.

I doubt that JR1 would post an edit just for the hell of it if he thought the original poster did not want to him to go ahead with it.

He has been very helpful recently and I suspect he was trying to be helpful in this case too.

But, later in the thread the original poster asked him to leave it alone.

The original poster also says ' Don't do that remove' apparently in response to the offer to remove it.
All very confusing so I can see where the difficulties arise. Also I read 'no, that is OK' as a response to the offer of an email first.

Your move to suspend JR1's account I think I can understand, but this could possibly be an 'over-reaction'. I always hope that members post pictures to get helpful comment from viewers, and to get suggestions. Fatuous comment like 'very nice' is of no help to anybody and all it does is clog up the system. What is the forum for but to get viewers thinking and trying to move their photography to something more satisfying? The pictures had done a good job in stimulating JR1 to make, what I would consider, to be a postive contribution, something the forum should encourage.

I hope that you will tell us that JR1 has been reinstated.

jesse

It would help if correct punctuation was used. This lack makes the meaning ambiguous, as you can tell from the responses here in this thread.

It's on the far side of the big pond about 2500-3000 miles from SE Idaho, but you will have to ask them where in the UK is Idaho.

I would not suspend JR1 I don't believe he meant it in a malicious way, and as one of the other responders said he has been quite civil lately.
