Hi Marc - for me the RH-2 - it's more versatile than the RH-1, which restricts you to "sidemounting" your lens. Give Rob a call, ask him whatever you like, and tell him I (and JR1 from this site, and a few Americans too) sent you. He's a genuine guy and is just a delight to deal with. Don't forget you'll get 2 quick-release plates with your purchase as well. Go for it !

I am not associated with the man.
Last year I wanted a gimbal for the surf shots on my site, I do a lot of this in summer, also I wanted a gimbal for a monopod, yes you heard right.
I looked at all the cheaper steel (rustworthy ones!) on EBAY and the more expensive, by chance I started reading the birding websites.
Here is an example
http://www.naturephotohub.com/topic/1148-lensmaster-gimbal-rh-1-full-review/I read many different birding forums and they all talked about an engineer who in his spare time designed his own and now makes them as one offs by word of mouth.
I have both, the
http://www.lensmaster.co.uk/rh1.htmIs ideal for lenses that have a collar and for a monopod BUT the model 2 is the main one.
It is top quality alloy, I had one on approval and bought two.
What I believe is more important than anything else is you can call in on the man at his home, phone him and meet, do that with other makes.
JR1, Thank you for this post, the RH-2 is just what I am
looking for. Again thanks. mdh

All I did was check out a load of birding forums and call him, that swung it for me.
Nothing personal, nothing to gain
Remember call the man
