Selecting Nikon wide angle zoom lense

I recently purchased a Nikon D5100 with kit lense 18-55mm. I would like to purchase a wide angle zoom lense to take on a trip to Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, etc. Do you have any suggestions on which lense I should use? What do you think about the Nikkor 10-24mm? I expect to take senery and group shots. Thanks for your help.

Its expensive but good. the sigma 10-20 4.0 or tokina 12-24 are nice for wide wide..you may want to get a 70-300vr..seems you have a good wide at 18-55..that is a very sharp lens. even the 55-200 vr is a nice light weight but not the reach. i own the 70-300 nikon..wonderful lens and great for some landscape shots to compress scene.

i would spend my money on a 18-200 or 70-300vr. wide wide is more for interior work or getting very close and shooting for dramatic effect.

thanks for the info. I forgot to mention that i also have a Nikon 55-300mm lense. Trying to make sure I have the right lense for landscape shots before I go on the trip. Thanks again.
