This method is fine, until I attempted to capture the Moon and failed miserably time after time to get great detail like my ol internet friend JS at newsvine, so I purchased a book for my camera "Nikon D60 for Dummies" and read about all the functions my camera offered. Well not all just the ones , that enabled me to capture the Moon. Since then I have never gone back to Auto mode unless I am inside and need the flash. I have missed many image capturing opportunities because the D60 was set up wrong and failed to change it back in time, but I have also captured many cool images that would have other wise been impossible. Controlling the light intake also allows me to be very creative and in control so I like that aspect as well. I feel that my best images are in front of me. Photography is also a great incentive to get out of bed early for awesome Sunrise captures. Website: www.wormholehubstation.com
