Have any of you had the opportunity to tryout this product? I have been playing with it and find the results quite remarkable. On this page (see link) you can watch a couple of demonstrations and open an image to see for yourself what it can do with your own images. You will, I believe be teaching their engine as you play with it therefore enlarging the data set and improving the product. I think the software when releases will run on their servers and keep getting better because of it. Follow the link and give it a try. I would love to hear what my fellow Hoggers think of it. They also have a couple of other things up their sleeves; an AI upscaling algorithm that uses AI to create new pixels where none existed before when the image is interpolated up. This one also learns on the go. The other creates slo-mo videos by creating intervening frames predictably bases on their AI engine. Here's the link: https://www.nvidia.com/research/inpainting/

A perfect clarification.

You'd be well-served to investigate and clarify, for yourself, the technical details of several of the issues you've asked about in your post. First, the 'cloud storage' can be used in multiple ways that are entirely at your discretion. However, the software and particularly the basic 20GB level of cloud storage provided in the basic $10/mth subscription, are not intended for 'storing' your images in the cloud. Rather, this 20GB area is a temporary transfer area to facilitate wireless transfer of images from your mobile LR CC equipment to your long-term desktop LR 'Classic' catalog.

Your LR Classic catalog resides local to your full-function desktop machine, both when using the subscription software as well as your current standalone version. The executable software also installs and resides there locally to your desktop's hardrive.

I can't speak to whether the 32-bit 'installer' software will be / has been broken by Apple. I think I've seen comments that say the installer is not disabled by the new Mac OS. You can wait for that event / need to confirm. Even if Apple did disable new LR6 installs, you don't have to worry about that event until it should occur. At some future point, whether 1-week, 6-months, 2-years, never, only at that point of need will you need to re-evaluate if you want to begin an Adobe subscription. In the meantime, simply assure your LRCAT file, your LR configuration and preset files, and the original image files are regularly and reliably backed-up for disaster recovery and / or transfer to new equipment.

Finally, LRCC and LR Classic are not either / or installations. When you subscribe, you can install and use both, along with PhotoShop. The Classic software is intended for your desktop computer (or full-function laptop) where PS is also installed. The LRCC is intended for your mobile / tablet device for working in the field. That 'temp cloud transfer' area is intended for wireless transfer of preliminary edits from LRCC back to the main Classic catalog. You might share edits between Classic to LRCC, again at most via a 20GB transfer.

I may be totally wrong here but it is my understanding that dpi is only a function of offset printing. this is not how inkjet or laser printing work. I have had wall sized (9'x20') printed from files that were 145ppi and they turned out great. As to the discrepancy in the psi for your two files, I would import the background image and resize it to your finished size at the maximum resolution that you can where it it will rertain it's integrity. Then place your foreground image on a layer above the background and transform it to fit your composition. It will be placed at the same resolution as the background initially and when you scale it it will be interpolated to match the resolution of the background image. At least that's how I think it works.

I just made the switch to the subscription service for the entire CC Suite for this very reason. I also had to make the switch for the Office Suite as I use more than just Photoshop and Lightroom in my business. Adobe had a great deal on Black Friday for the year it was "only" $360. Hopefully they will have a similar deal next year when it is time for me to renew. The cost of the subscription for the PS and LR package is very reasonable, if thats all that you require. If you are migrating to Catalina it is my understanding that you will need to make this change as 32 bit applications (your installer is an application) will not function in Catalina. As to whether Lightroom CC or Lightroom Classic? I suspect you would want Classic as it will function like you expect it to. With CC your photos will live on the cloud. Hope this helps.

Thanks Jim. It was a great trip regardless of the overcast, rain and wind. I put over 2,300 miles on the rental.

These were taken just before the Noreaster hit in New England a couple of weeks ago. Most of them were taken in Maine. The field of color completely took me aback. I'd never seen anything like it.

Fun topic and there are some great submissions here. I shot some of the murals in the Mission District in San Francisco a couple of years ago that I think fit this challenge well. I hope you like them.

Photos I took from a recent RC contest located in Lakeland, FL. I have been shooting this event every year since 2010 and it never gets old.

Excellent photos of excellent models!

In Baja for our son's wedding. The rehearsal dinner was at Deckman's en El Magor. The food and wine available in this area is incredible.

We visited France last June and this stop was one of the highlights. So sorry for the loss of this iconic cathedral. So glad to hear that so many of the artifacts were saved and that they will restore her.

Probably the finest image I've seen in this forum. Excellent in every aspect. You have done your subject and it's location justice.
