Then use it as well as you can. Period.

Whatever you do, do it well, do it with integrity, don't sin, and give thanks to God for it.

That's glorifying God with your photography (or anything else for that matter)

PS: Don't forget to tell people the good news while you are out taking pictures, spreading the gospel is about a billion times more important than anything photo related.

Leica has discontinued the Summarit-M series lenses, (35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 90mm) for some reason. I looked around on line, but I couldn't find a reason for it.

It seems that the best reason is that they were having a hard time competing with the second-hand summicrons and summilux's. The prices weren't that far apart from a new summarit lens.

That's a great lens!

I just got a 28m non asph that is deadly. I love that and the 35mm Summarit asph.

I see you are in FL too...I'm moving to Port St. Lucie in a week or two.

re: that's not biblical. Folks are sinners, haters of God, lovers of self, they are to be told the truth of their condition and unless God changes their heart, they will stay in rebellion forever. Sinners don't want God...period.

People are sinners, that is true. It is NOT true that all are "haters of God, lovers of self". If " Sinners don't want God...period." you would be wasting your time talking to them.

Nope. It IS true that all folks are sinners and haters of God (if the bible is true and it is) but that doesn't equate with "wasting my time" at all. God must turn these haters of God into lovers of God (that's what the bible says about it.) If we didn't believe that then yes...it would be futile but I do believe that God changes men's dark hearts from stone to flesh (which is what the bible says he does)

Quote:
A person who is a 'sinner' and wants help, will look for people who have what they want, and ask. In John 13:34-35 Jesus told us how to live so that they will know that we have is what they are looking for. This is how the early church grew so fast and in about 300 years covered the whole Roman empire.

The early church grew fast because folks didn't water down the message as you are doing. They boldly told the truth and almost to a man they were murdered for doing so. Read Foxx's book of Martyrs...it's enlightening.

I'm done with this..I'm glad you brought it up though so that folks can see the the difference between a man-centered/watered down fake-gospel message and the real actual gospel message.

have a good day.

Hi Sandy,

RE: "When questions come up, and sometimes they do, I tell then how He has changed me and loved me." That is BEING a witness - telling what God has done for you.

too bad that's not the gospel. (the good news)

The good news is that all humans are condemned to be punished in Hell because they are sinners who hate God but because God is a merciful and loving God He has made a way of escape, to repent and turn to the only one who can save them....Jesus Christ who suffered in place of His elect, taking the wrath of God so that they won't.

That's the gospel. Not "see what He's done for me!"

Quote:
All too often the church re-defines 'witnessing' to mean "judging and condemning:" telling people they meet "You are a sinner and going go hell - unless..."

And bravo to them...all too often though folks like to water that real message down (as you have) and thereby neuter it of the truth.

Quote:
When people ask or question, they are ready to listen - and they will only ask if they see in you something that they like and want for themselves.

Once again, that's not biblical. Folks are sinners, haters of God, lovers of self, they are to be told the truth of their condition and unless God changes their heart, they will stay in rebellion forever. Sinners don't want God...period.

Quote:
You write: " I love and enjoy my photography friends, ". This is fulfilling what Jesus said in "John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."

Which is a totally separate issue than what we are commanded to tell pagans.

Quote:
Your friends like what they see in you and want what you have for themselves.

Not if you are truthful about the gospel message they won't.

If you whitewash it and don't tell them the truth of course they will like it! you are tickling their ears with a false gospel that cannot save.

Quote:
Your love of photography
along with your love for that friend was the means of giving guidance relating to reincarnation etc.

Blessings,

Stan.

Not sure what reincarnation has to do with Christianity....hmmm

You are so right. Go to Him first and that I am learning to do. Now to learn to wait for His leading. Thank you for kind response.

Please, don't.

There is no "waiting for his leading"

Here is how orthodox Christianity works.

You read God's revelation to man (the bible) often, every day. You study it, you meditate on it...you hold it in your heart..you memorize it.

By doing so, you learn about God...what He's like, what he wants, what you should be doing and not doing.

Then you make the proper decision based on what you know. (what God has said)

That's it.

It's not Christian-mysticism...that's a false gospel that's been infiltrating the church for decades.

Hi Sandy, I can find no command in the Bible telling us to ‘Witness’. We are told to BE Witnesses - a totally different thing.

Then you haven't read your bible closely enough.

Quote:
Studying “The Word” is good, but it can become ‘religion’ doing it to ‘please God’.

Doing so DOES please God, it cannot become a religion, that's ludicrous.

Quote:
There is no command in the Bible to ’Study the Word’. The only reference I can find is where those in Beria searched the Scriptures to check if what they were being taught was true (Acts 17:11). Before Jesus went to the cross, he gave us ONE command - and it was NOT to tell those they met that they are sinners. It was to love others as much as he loved them. (John 13:34-35)

Wow....what a twisted view of the bible's content.

Quote:
Then when they ask the reason why - for the joy in their lives then tell them. ( 1 Peter 3:15 ) Your activity in HH, is a ‘Witness” as is being out and about with others. I suggest that you do an internet search about the early church - that in less than 300 years spread over the whole Roman Empire. They were known because of their love - the name Christian was given them by the public - The Christ Ones -because they loved.(Acts 11:26)
What the world needs now more than ever is people who are NOT full of fear. People like you.
Then when they ask the reason why - for the joy i... (show quote)

They were known because they boldly proclaimed the truth of Jesus, His sacrifice, and that all other religions were false, and they were willing to die for that truth.

I'm betting you don't attend any church, there is no way a person could sit under orthodox teaching week after week and have this skewed view of what the bible says.

Would love some input. Struggling with whether my photography is an "idol" of sorts.

We all do. Myself included.

Quote:
I always try to glorify Him but maybe put too much time in this hobby. I so enjoy the groups I am involved in, HH, reading and learning about photography, competing and shooting. To be honest I probably spend more time with this then studying the Word.

Then that's an issue for sure. We all struggle with it.

Quote:
Christ is my life and constantly on my mind but then I think maybe I should pack it all away. Especially in times like this. Then I wouldn't be out and about around others and in situations where I could witness.

You could just go out with the intent of witnessing :) Lots of folks do that.
I am asking Jesus to please give me His perspective and I am listening for His answer.
Here is how you communicate with Jesus; you read what He's written (the bible) where it's relevant to your question, and then you behave accordingly. There is no "listening for His answer". Jesus talks through the written revelation he's provided...not feelings or voices.

Quote:
Just would appreciate honest thoughts as this is very troubling to me. If He is coming soon and I believe He is, how should we live?

It's up to you; your conscience. You should be discussing this with your pastor or elder, have him point you to relevant passages, read them, meditate on them, and react accordingly.

We've all been there...you aren't alone in this. :)

Are you asking about Lightroom CC or Lightroom CLASSIC CC? They are completely different applications.

I see that was your issue... Adobe’s evil marketing department (joke) used a bit of trickery (NOT a joke) to get us to try their new system. Problem is, it just pisses off most users.

Exactly!

Did both, even used the Adobe help...no answers.

The solution was to use Classic which includes all of those things that apparently have been removed from the version I was using.

I had LR classic, I changed to Cloud.

I guess my question is; is the cloud version neutered of all of these customization options or is it a case of me not knowing how to get these customizations done?
