I particularly like the photo of the P-51 flying overhead. I have seen so many airshow photos where the photographer uses a very fast shutter speed with the result being that the prop is frozen which gives the impression that the motor is not running. Yours is done perfectly as it shows the prop as it should look. I would guess you used a shutter speed between 1/200 and 1/250 and panned to minimize the speed of the aircraft. I realize this is a fine point but as a retired fighter pilot, it really bugs me. Good job!

This really hurts to see a great company go downhill like this. During my flying career I accumulated around 34,000 hours of flying with a good portion of this in Boeing 707's, 720B, 320C and 727 aircraft and had the utmost confidence in these beautiful machines. I flew them into military bases in Viet Nam (320C's of Continental Airlines)) in the 60's and into small Micronesian airfields with short runways with water at both ends during the 80's (727 100 and 200 with Continental Air Micronesia) and marveled at the reliability of Boeing Aircraft. We used to say, "if it's not Boeing, I'm not going". Not anymore.

Good work! Brings back memories of my first car - a 1929 Ford Model A Coupe that I bought for $25 when I was 15. It was in running condition and I had access to several miles of forest trails without going on the public roads so I drove it quite a bit and then eventually sold it for $25. Wonder what it would be worth now?

The Reid Park Zoo here in Tucson has been featuring a traveling exhibition of lifesize, animated dinosaur figures so wandered on down yesterday to see how they looked. There were many different dinosaurs in the display from little ones (6 feet long) to BIG ones (50 or more feet long). They were very lifelike and displayed in appropriate areas and even though their movements were mostly the head moving up and down and the tails twitching, the ones that got your attention were the ones that opened and closed their mouths and displayed their teeth. It probably comes as no surprise that the most impressive of the group was Tyrannosaurus Rex. It was a fun shoot and well worth the time.

Great airshow photos of the Blues. As a retired Air Force fighter pilot I really have to admire the different formations they come up with. That one with two inverted and two upright is really tricky. Thanks for the coverage and I'll be going to the Air Show at at Davis-Monthan AFB here in Tucson on the 6th of November and I hope I can can do as well as you. This year it will be the Thunderbirds and I am looking forward to it. Cheers!

Thanks for all the favorable replies - I'm glad you enjoyed the history lesson. Yes, the Oregon as well as the Washington coast are target rich environments for photographers. Even when the weather is bad there are great photos to be made.

During our annual pilgrimage from Tucson to Lyle, Washington, we tried to enjoy the 3 or 4 day journey as much as the time at the cabin. We loved driving up Hwy 1 along the Oregon Coast even though it added a bunch of miles to the day's drive. In the town of Gold Beach, Oregon the remains of the Mary D. Hume are located right next to the highway on the north side of town and every year we have been watching the deterioration of the ship. Since these shots were taken prior to the Covid epidemic, I can only imagine what she looks like now but after reading the history of this vessel, it is sad to see her in this condition. I thought it was very nice that the city erected the sign detailing the historical journey of this once proud ship. If anyone has a more recent photo I would love to see what is left now.

We are finally having an authentic Monsoon Season here in Tucson following a horrible one in 2020. To put it in perspective, when the rain finally came this year, in a few days we had more rain than for the entire Monsoon Season of 2020. This is what one of the storms that hit us directly looked like. You are looking east from my patio towards the Rincon Mountains and that area of heavy rain had us boresighted. It was a slow moving storm and knocked a lot of branches off trees and caused heavy local flooding in the lower areas.
