Why not all white

I suggest that all the wild guessers here google "Canon fluorite lenses". Other manufacturers that use fluorite crystals in their lenses also paint those lenses a light color.

You might want to do some research on your statement about being "certified" to carry a concealed firearm. Several states recognize "constitutional right" to carry a firearm.

No, he is talking about the Canon CMOS sensor that is 40 times the size of a 35mm sensor. It is a specialty use sensor.

lens shades or not

Keep in mind that the lens shades on most of the big whites are the same color as the lens. They are there. They just make the lens look longer.
