Some will say the leaves are a distraction, I say they work quite well. Without them, seems unfinished. You have added just enough to not be cluttered. Love the golden hour tone and think you deserve a well done with a high five.

Thanks and I apologize for the delayed response. The original here is well done in itself but the B&W is exceptional. Seeing the original add emphasis to the work you did in getting to the posted B&W. Good job. Thanks for Sharing. :-)

Placing those two figures up against the bridge as giants really shook me up for a minute. Wow, a really creative composite.

Thanks Erich. More work is needed and really not sure when I can can get back to it.

I know I should have tossed these two pictures when I first made them back in 2012. I was cleaning out hundreds of old shots today and decided to combine these two just for fun. Couldn't decide whether to use the original BG (#1) or the darker one...like it really mattered!
Criticize all you like, I don't mind at all, and it was still fun.

I like both. Altho, I'm leaning to the second one as a favorite. A little noisy but I really do understand why. Title is perfect for this image. Great imagination.

See Italy!.... they said! Cross the Alps on an Elephant!.....they said! The Romans will be so terrified they will throw down their weapons!!.... They said! In future wars, I wonder what bird-brained ideas they will come up with. Maybe screen doors on submarines! That would work!

Linda whispered in my ear yesterday. That is a nice elephant you got there!... she said! You should make a composite image!....she said! It'll have the UHH folks in stitches!....she said!

The idea was nice; but the execution is still way above my pay grade. I had fun with it and that does count in my book. Maybe one of these days I'll get serious about compositing images. For the sake of transparency, the elephant and the Alps are my photos. The Carthaginian came from the internet.

Well done Erich. Compositing is so much fun altho not so much when AI takes over. It's ruining our imaginations. However, I do like the cartoonish appearance here. I have been trying to learn a simple way to create cartoon characters from some of my images.

As an ex sailor whose never been on a sailboat I can understand what is about or may happen by what is visually shown. IMO, a great action shot and I would hope you would have taken a series of shots. Everything in this image has its own purpose, buildings, haze, etc. Those are not overall important to me in this image, altho they do make up for the overall image of ... "it is what it is", which is an excellent action shot. How would I have processed it? No one knows, not even I but I think you did an excellent job from beginning to finish Dave. I'm sure we will see parts of this image in a composite somewhere down the road or maybe out to sea. LOL

I like the results of this image. However, I still struggle with the AI world. I may come around but can not figure out why. In some sense I fear that AI is taking over so we agree what has been created from a computer rather than human intelligence?

I'm so tired trying to make my slides visable on the internet, I needed to take a break. So.....
Here's another, I call it, Chairs. Guess why!

Great, what I like is that it's a mystery to me on what I'm seeing here. Chairs? I will have to study more and maybe have the conclusion of something totally off the wall.

My wife has always told me, " You look but you don't see". LOL. I suspect most married men have heard this before.
Well, on a recent morning walk in my neighborhood, I saw. I have walked by this enormous retaining wall many times but on this day, it caught my attention. For some reason, I thought the shadows on the blocks looked like Martini glasses. I'm a bourbon guy so I have no idea where this came from. Hmm, what can I do with that? I also took a couple other images from that wall. See below.

So, what do you think? Do these images qualify as "Digital Art" or am I climbing up the wrong wall?

Yeah, what you see is what you get may not always be what we see. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion because I believe everyone sees things differently. What's art to one may be junk to someone else. I very rarely delete an image because if I can remember where I have stored the said image, I may use it later in a composite for IMO, art. Thanks for the subject matter.

What I like most about this topic is you've demonstrated the value of exploring many aspects of a subject. You've set the scene with a documentary photo, then taken us to abstract land, and beyond. Very enjoyable series!

"Do these images qualify as Digital Art?"
I personally don't have any interest in defining art - digital or otherwise - I much prefer to just enjoy and be inspired by our diverse, supportive and talented members who share their time and creations in this section.

For a historical perspective of Digital Artistry Forum:

Bob Yankle took over "The Exploration of Digital Artistry" in 2016. At that time it was an invitation-only forum. You will find many photos posted in the early years that are not heavily manipulated in pp. In 2020 he opened D.A. to all UHH members.

In the spring of 2021 Bob turned over management to cwilson341. She enlisted me (or maybe I volunteered ) to be co-manager.

Since then we've tweaked the section rules a couple of times (and shortened the forum name) to reflect members' interests and the fact that all sections of UHH have crossover, and also that some other specialty sections have gained or lost membership.

I hope the section continues to grow, and that everyone enjoys our little corner of UHH!
What I like most about this topic is you've demons... (show quote)

Thanks Linda. This is info I had no clue. Often wonder "What About Bob" ?

More from camera club model night.

Great photo shoot John. I like both but the B&W is striking in my opinion. Not that it's B&W, (that helps as well) it's mostly the pose and expression.

I really like the 2nd image street scene! As far as the composite I tend to agree with Linda.

Thank you. I too, like the street shot of the two. I have a couple more. There was just something puzzling about them that caught my attention. I can only speculate but will actually never know.

It seems the Roebling family had some interesting engineers - John, his son Washington and Emily, Washington’s wife. They were all involved with Brooklyn Bridge according to my search. Interestingly, I also found a straw poll of ‘the most famous engineer’ and it included Emily but neither of the other two! That makes the poll rather meaningless I reckon.
Look forward to seeing your revised composite Dave.

Yeah I knew of the Brooklyn being a sister model or vise versa, not sure which one came first tho. Was not totally aware of the Roebling family. Still at the drawing board and may be for a while with improvements.

I think it was a great combination of figures! Yeah, the man's hand doesn't touch the bridge. But, so what. The feet in the water add a touch of reality. Nice work!

Thank you for commenting, finally someone is on the same page as I. LOL. No, really I have to agree with you but there are some things needing corrected. I have discovered and I'm sure you will agree, composites are always under construction. I've got some a few years old that are still in the construction zone. Not sure exactly where I stand with this one. May be in the water for awhile ... maybe.
