Mine processes in about 30 seconds... I bought a new computer with better specs to handle PS and LR. Topaz got filed in the trash after using LR Denoise... and it will likely get even better with Adobe updates.

Thank you, Karl. I am no (skilled or otherwise) birder. But this location is simply great! Too bad that I only motivated myself to visit this site ("the bridge over the river Haw") starting in May of this year. I knew about it last year, but never visited early enough - ideally AT sunrise - or often enough to get any good captures.

The Merlin app + sufficient motivation (and stamina) can be a great path to becoming a birder though. I spent an hour earlier this week trying to locate a Yellow-breasted chat in a different location (Dix Park in Raleigh, also the home of the Painted Bunting visitor to central NC!). The Merlin app identified the chat's call, and I could hear a pair of them in the trees or shrubs. But never saw either one after following the calls and waiting a sighting for an hour!

I'm in eastern TN from OR now and I have been using Merlin Sound ID to help me identify bird calls since there are quite a few birds here that I am not very familiar with. However, a word of caution: Merlin can be wrong. It can also be a big help. I heard a bird right after dark, recorded it, and Merlin said Chuck-wills-widow. I had never seen or heard of that species so I opened another app that can playback songs and it was the same.

Less than 10 seconds on my new computer... about the same as Topaz DeNoise AI. Topaz took much longer on my old computer, so maybe the LR version of DeNoise would take a long time on a low-powered computer.

I have the above lens and use it with a 1.4x tc on a A7r iii with very good results. Any image degradation is to small for me to even notice and AF still works like a champ.
I am thinking of adding the 2x tc but wondering how much of a hit IQ will take and how much another stop of lost light will affect AF.
My question is for anyone who uses this combo, what has been your experience?
Any reviews I have found online were pretty worthless.
TIA!

I have a Sony a7r4, 200-600, and 1.4 TC. I believe the 61mp are a little too much for the 1.4 to work perfectly so I usually end up not using the 1.4 unless the light is really good. I can see a very slightly less sharp image using the 1.4 TC. Best thing is to test it out to see for yourself how you like the results.

Nice photos... roadrunners are great to watch. The red tail is actually a Northern Harrier (ID clues are dihedral wings, low flight, white rump).

Hopefully, somebody already said something about the cost of Lr/Ps compared to the cost of the camera, lens, tripod, etc. A few hundred dollars (several years like a camera) for Lr/Ps when it's as important, if not more, than the camera gear is a steal.

I took some photos this week at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH this week. Almost all of the displays are behind glass. In some case, such as the photos below, the glass is reflecting images from other displays. I have found that in some cases, a ND filter can eliminate most, if not all, reflected images, but I had none with me. So I'm wondering if there is a way to remove (or at least minimize) them in post-processing?

(For the curious, the photos are of the unique amplification rig designed and developed by guitarist John Cipollina, one of the leading guitar players in the heyday of San Francisco's acid-rock sound).

Christian Irmler, an Austrian landscape photographer and painter has written a thought-provoking piece for Fstoppers in which he argues that the current state-of-the-art in image stabilization and sensor performance at high ISOs may have made tripods obsolete. Fstoppers is an online community and resource which reaches 1.5 million photographers each month.

As he provocatively put it a tripod may have "become a relic from a time with poor technology." (He does acknowledge that a tripod is still necessary for focus stacking and can serve as a useful aid to thoughtful composition.)

Given the frequent (some might go so far as to say obsessive) discussion of tripods on UHH (to which I will plead guilty to some degree) I think the question merits further dialog.

My personal conclusion is that ponderously heavy, stable (and expensive tripods) are no longer the critical tool they once were, and that the still-useful functions of a tripod can be fulfilled by lighter and more portable gear.

I agree... I only use a light weight tripod for times when I need to keep the camera on the bird for a relatively long time. With body and lens stabilization things have changed even with 840mm.
