I've had this lens for my Canon 5d MK IV. Very solid lens, sharp details, great colors. It is true that the zoom is backwards, but if that's a deal breaker for you, that's about the only complaint that is justified. It is a heavy lens. The main issue that I've personally had with it has been more of a user error issue. I think that I've used it in the wrong situations where I probably needed to dial up the aperture, instead of having it at f/2.0. Highly recommend it.

I have an old crop frame Canon (T2i) and a FF (5D MK4). I prefer to travel with the crop frame. It's lighter, takes great still pictures (motion isn't the best with it). I have a decent lens with it. Just got back from two weeks in Europe, took many amazing pics. I'll continue to travel with the crop frame until it dies (I've had it almost 10 years now, lots of snaps taken) and then I'll probably go to a mirrorless for traveling.

The images are soft. In the daylight of these pictures, most cameras should be able to give you very sharp images. Your settings are going to depend on the lens that you use. Personally, I like to dial up my shutter speed and open up the aperature as much as tolerable. I try to keep my ISO as low as possible (under 800) for this type of picture.

Can also look at 'international versions' of the lens, saves a few bucks. I have bought several lens that were designated like this and a couple of cameras, haven't had any issues, same exact products and save about 25-30%.

I have the 24-105mm with my 5D MK IV... it's a great walk around lens for the camera. Takes very sharp pictures.

I agree with most of the comments... don't do it. Be the Dad in the wedding, enjoy the moment. It goes by way too fast to begin with, enjoy the few moments that you will have.

I guess it all depends on what you are going to use it for and how much you want to spend. You will use them for different reasons and you should focus on what your purpose is. Several other of the posts have gone into other factors. Personally, I have a f/1.8 50mm which is great for low light and portraits, but also have a f/2.8 70-200mm for sports... much different uses.
