I forgot, this last Thursday I got hearing aids.
Kaiser tested me and the Audiologist said that besides my tinnitus I had loss in the high end and recommended I go to the VA to get them because with my VA disability they might be free instead of a copay at Kaiser. They were free from VA and a higher end model than Kaiser had for me on my teacher's retirement plan.
But on the followup in 4 weeks I need to get these things adjusted, the computer keys, rain on the roof, chewing, hair brushing my ears (the wife trimmed it yesterday etc. are now amplified too LOUD. My world now has too much sound. When I shaved I could hear every whisker getting cut.

I can relate to that/ I got my most recent hearing aids from the VA. These are the best I have over the years. This is my 4th et and the VA gave me a backup pair as well. My cost came to $50.00 for some reason but I don't care because it has worked out for me very well.

As for the other things people are talking about here, I can relate to all of those as well. I am 76 and it keeps getting tougher. But happy to be here.

None of these, I had a 1954 Buick Century* with a 1955 Buick Road Master v8 engine. I drove that from 12th grade, halfway through my second year of college when the engine blew. I went to the local salvage guy's garage and bought a 1949 Studebaker for $35 to finish the college year before moving to So. California to live with my Mom and Step Father.
I got a job to buy another car and get back in college but got my draft notice before I could afford a car. So I said, "Hell no, you aren't drafting me!" and enlisted in the regular army.
When I came home after discharge in Jan '69 I picked up a 1969 Chevelle 4 door V8 I bought from the GM rep at the PX in Vietnam. They delivered it to a big dealer near the LA Airport a week after I got home and the next day was my Mom's day off so she drove me over and dropped me off so I could pick it up. I drove that until 1976 when a light went red in front of me on a rainy day. I braked, but bad luck, I was on an oil slick and a down hill slope so in spite of going slow in the rain I slid right into the first car going through the light, totaled both cars.

I really appreciate the great photos you have been posting. I spent my last 6 months in the Army stationed at Camp Darby in southern Italy in 1969. That is between Pisa and Lovino on the beach. So, I am a little jealous that you are able to see so much of the country. But I am also really happy and grateful that you have. A Sergeant's salary did not go very far back then. I loved my time there.

We could use a new positive perspective. The current one is now great by any means, unless you like mud slinging.

One of my favorite go-to places in Apache Junction is the Goldfield Ghost Town. Usually I'm there to photograph the gunfights in the streets on weekends, but as the Christmas season dominates our thought process, they decorated the Ghost Town with an untold number of colorful light strings and some wood fired bonfires scattered around the street.

All of the businesses along the main street got into the spirit of the season and are staying open until 9:00pm to show off their handiwork and enjoying the comments of the visitors. This is the first year that the Ghost Town has tried a Christmas lights event, so everyone was nervous about the outcome.

I brought my camera and tripod along and spent a little more than an hour shooting the lights. I started early enough that most of the people hadn't arrived yet so there were very few spoilers for my long duration photo shots with people straggling through the shot, creating ghostly images. The Ghost Town has an old train system with rails that circle the town and it too was decorated with colorful lights to set the mood for the riders.

My camera is the Canon M6 mark ll shooting with ISO 2,000. f/8. Aperture Priority so the camera set the shutter duration. Editing was done using Affinity Photo ver. 2.3. The final shot, of the train returning to the station, was taken with my Pixel 7 cellphone.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable Christmas season.

I spent my last 6 months in the US Army in Southern Italy. Thank for posting photos of the places I did not get to while stationed there. I was only 2 miles from the beach and these posts are absolutely beautiful.

When you buy Halloween candy this year, be careful! Do not buy your favorite kind. I did that, and now my two bags of Mounds are gone! I'll have to go out and buy something that I don't want to eat. I thought I could resist, but I couldn't. We've averaged just fifteen kids the past few years, so I guess buying two bags of candy was overkill. It was delicious, though.
