Sounds like you never owned or even tried a mirrorless camera. "Dumbed down video camera"???
If that was true, then why are Nikon, Canon and all the rest jumping on the mirrorless bandwagon and trying to catch up to Sony?? They know that if they don't, then they will fall by the wayside.
I gave up my Nikon and Canon DSLR equipment years ago and never looked back.
I will put my Sony a7riii up against any DSLR. Look online at the pros. So many are using mirrorless, particularly Sony.

Hi All,
You are all right regarding the built in wi-fi signal outdoors.
Thank you all so much.
Nothing like getting what you want and not having to pay for extra equipment!

Wow, I will try that today.
I remember seeing something like the wi-fi information in the camera that is different from my router wi-fi info.
I can't wait to try this.
Thank you.

Hi,
I do have wi-fi built into the camera but when I shoot outdoors, there is no wi-fi signal available.
I am looking at your link to tethering tools.
It looks like it might work.
Thank you so much.

I use extender rings.
They are inexpensive and they don't degrade the image quality because there is no glass.
they also have auto-focus and auto exposure feature because they make contact between the camera and lens.
the results are outstanding.

sure, as long as it would work outdoors, away from Wi-fi signal.
thanks.

Totally agree with MDI Mainer. The photographer makes the camera, not the other way around.

Hi David,
Are you still interested in the Sony mirrorless cameras?
Please let me know.
I have the a7riii, the a6500 and the RX100V.
I traded in all my Canon equipment about 5 years ago.
I love the Sony and would be glad to share any info if you wish.

I have a Sony a7riii camera and often use the Imaging Edge Mobile app on my Android phone to remotely view and shoot pictures. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, Model SM-G955U.
This app will only connect with the camera via Wi-Fi so I can only use it indoors. My question and issue is this...I often shoot landscape photos close to the ground to get the perspective I like. Due to my age, I find it difficult to get on the ground to take these pictures. By the way, the problem is not getting on the ground, it's getting up. Ha, Ha. Is there any device that will allow me to stream the image to my phone or other device outdoors and shoot the picture without having to get on the ground. I prefer not to use a right angle finder if there is even one for this camera.
Thank you.

I have always preferred FedEx over any other form of delivery service. I never, ever had a problem with them. The reason I would not want anything of value delivered by USPS is that if it fits in my mailbox, then that's where they will "stuff it". I once had to go to the post office because I could not get a package out of the mailbox (a book from Amazon). the driver can load the packages from his side, but the front of the box has a ridge and I could not remove the book without damaging it. That's my opinion.

Some of my nature shots taken at Rutgers Gardens, a botanical garden in central NJ operated by the students at Rutgers College. Also some shots at the NY Botanical Gardens. Shot with Sony 7rIII, mostly with the Sony 90mm macro.

Hello all,

I have been sitting on the sidelines reading UHH posts for well over a year. It's time I jumped in with both feet. My name is jerry, I live in NJ the garden state and I am an avid photo buff taking pictures since I was 14 years old. I am now 71 and love photography more than ever. I started out with a Kodak Retina IIC with a 2.8 Schneider Kreuznach lens, a sekonic L-23C light meter, a Bogen tripod and a Kodachrome paper sheet packed in with the film. I've had Nikkormats, Canon A-1's, AE'1s, and everything in between. I've had major gas most of my life.
Anyway, quick flash to the present, I traded in all my Canon digital equipment and bought Sony mirrorless. Somehow, I fell in love with Sony and I'm getting superb results. I plan on posting my pics as soon as I can. I love nature and landscape photography...also macro.
Equipment list:
Sony 7rMark 3
Sony alpha 6500
Sony Rx100 Mark 5
lenses...55mm Zeiss f/1.8, 16-35mm Zeiss f/4, 90mm Sony Macro f/2.8, Sony 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6, Sony 70-200mm f/4.
I look forward to becoming more active and sharing thoughts with my fellow (what's the feminine for fellow??) hedgehoggers.

BTW, I use LR 6 and Photoshop CS6.

why not just use a lens cleaner and avoid the risks?

ND filters can reduce the light by a factor of up to 10 stops(that I am aware of). Usually EV reduction is up to about plus or minus 3 stops.
ND filters are perfect for slowing down the shutter speed to get the creamy affect of flowing water as 1 example.

The silent shutter is not the only reason. I have ditched a ton of Canon cameras and lenses for Sony. Sony makes an awesome camera and their lenses are excellent also.
It's my understanding that Sony makes the sensors for Canon and Nikon!!! So why is it so hard to accept the fact that Sony is in the pro league category.
