Does this lens have an internal silent wave motor or does it only focus automatically on the cameras that also have a focusing motor themselves?

Thank you everyone for all of the wonderful information that you gave!!! You have been most helpful. The original reason for my inquiry was because I was looking for a cheap MACRO lens and there are a plethora of them on ebay many along with a film camera as I mentioned in my original post.

I see a lot of inexpensive Nikon film cameras on ebay with what sound like excellent lenses. will these lenses work on my D5300 using manual focus, or is the aperture non functional as well?

I have used both Epson and Canon printers over the years and both work phenomenally with the correct paper.

I would avoid HP printers though because although their print quality is comparable to everyone else their ink is more expensive.

I know that when you use extension rings that a lens with a longer focal length allows you to focus farther away from the lens, but what happens when you reverse a prime lens? Does it reverse everything meaning that the longer the lens the closer the focal point? Also which lens will give you the most magnification? Does a 50mm lens give you a bigger image than say a 35mm lens will, or is it the other way around does a 35mm lens give you a bigger image than a 50mm lens will. And lastly is it possible to use a reversed lens along with extension tubes, or is the focal point just too close for that to work because the focal point will be inside of the lens itself?

Those were the days!!

Yep, that’s my era………………….

My mum used to cut chicken, chop eggs and spread butter on bread on the same cutting board with the same knife and no bleach, but we didn't seem to get food poisoning..

Our school sandwiches were wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag, not in ice pack coolers, but I can't remember getting e.Coli Almost all of us would have rather gone swimming in the lake or at the beach instead of a pristine pool (talk about boring), no beach closures then.

We all took PE ..... and risked permanent injury with a pair of Dunlop sandshoes instead of having cross-training athletic shoes with air cushion soles and built in light reflectors that cost as much as a small car. I can't recall any injuries but they must have happened because they tell us how much safer we are now.

We got the cane for doing something wrong at school, they used to call it discipline yet we all grew up to accept the rules and to honour & respect those older than us. We had 50 kids in our class and we all learned to read and write, do maths and spell almost all the words needed to write a grammatically correct letter......., FUNNY THAT!!

We all said prayers in school irrespective of our religion, sang the national anthem and no one got upset.

Staying in detention after school caught all sorts of negative attention we wish we hadn’t got.

I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something before I was allowed to be proud of myself. I just can't recall how bored we were without computers, Play Station, Nintendo, X-box or 270 digital TV cable stations, OR bloody mobile phones. We weren't!!

Oh yeah ... And where was the antibiotics and sterilization kit when I got that bee sting? I could have been killed!

We played “King of the Hill” on piles of gravel left on vacant building sites and when we got hurt, mum pulled out the 2/6p bottle of iodine and then we got our backside spanked. Now it's a trip to the emergency room, followed by a 10 day dose of antibiotics and then mum calls the lawyer to sue the contractor for leaving a horribly vicious pile of gravel where it was such a threat.

To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever been told that they were from a dysfunctional family. How could we possibly have known that?

We never needed to get into group therapy and/or anger management classes. We were obviously so duped by so many societal ills, that we didn't even notice that the entire country wasn't taking Prozac!

How did we ever survive?

LOVE TO ALL OF US WHO SHARED THIS ERA.

AND TO ALL WHO DIDN'T, SORRY FOR WHAT YOU MISSED.

I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING!

Pass this to someone and remember that life's most simple pleasures are very often the best.

AAAAh, those WERE the days!!!!

Cheers and Beers

My biggest problem with bridge cameras is the time delay between when you push the button and when it takes the picture and the lag time in between pictures. That was my biggest reason for wanting a DSLR of my old coolpix cameras.

I think the 70-300. My wife and I use the AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens which is designed for full size fx sensor but works fine on DX cameras. It is used with a D3100, D80 or D200. I’m attaching a photo she took last month on the east coast of Florida. This lens on a D3100. Hand held we like it. This pic is straight out of camera (sooc)

Nice picture!!! Thank you for your response

I had the 55 - 200 lens, I wasn't happy with it so I sold it and bought the Tamron 70-300.

Is tha tamron 70-300 clearer than the equivalent Nikon lens?

Has some scratches from awkward storage but hardly used. I could never get the hang of the eye-2-hand coordination but some folks love it. Pen with full set of nibs and holder...even the original nib is hardly used. Docs and drivers available online. Works on every program I ever tested. Windows or Mac.
$125 or best offer...You pay shipping/insurance. Money order or wait till check clears.

Is this the USB or bluetooth tablet? It is 18" x12" right?

There are several iterations of the 70-300. Which are you referring to?

There are so many of them, but I am looking at the lower cost versions with VR I think that they are both f4.5-5.6 G dx autofocus swm lenses.

For about 10USD you could do a reversing ring on your dslr, and then turn a wide angle lens backwards on the camera. This produces surprisingly good macro shots, and you are filterless. See link on you tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m56ANbj9YpE I don't have sample for you to see, but if you have a nice 24, 28, 35mm that you like, give it a try! I think you will be happy with the results. Lens needs to be one with f-ring, and auto focus won't work of course.

Everyone keeps saying you need a lens with an f-ring, however as I mentioned previously you can buy a devise that mounts onto the f-mount of a nikon lens that allows you to control the aperture using the little rod that stick out of the bottom of the mount that the camera body itself usually moves to adjust the aperture.

I made something close to that in my garage except I used the wheel from a car for the base and mine stood about4 1/2 feet tall. I used it for a laptop stand in my garage until the one day that it tipped over and damaged the power port on my laptop...
