some videos I have seen lately so they are looking at the latest versions still feel DxO is the best but it is quite expensive. Otherwise On1 2024 NoNoise is #2 with Topaz DeNoise (now Topaz Photo AI since they have stopped updated all the separate apps) and Lightroom Classic being way behind.

Okay, when I complete an edit with i.e. stamp or copy tool, I can't figure out how to deselect or complete the process. If I select another tool, the original tool appears to still be active.

are you using 2024? you have to hit the button at the bottom to apply all the edits.

Been using On1 since 2016 even though I teach Lightroom Classic and Photoshop at the college level. About 5% of my image I do some editing in Photoshop or Camera Raw then back to On1 to add effects

I have had to severely pull back on shooting with my mirrorless and lens as my neck is quite bad so any weight on it kills me quickly. As a result, I have been shooting with my iPhone 14 Pro and carrying a light weight tripod or selfie stick. It has surprisingly worked better than I thought but I really want to use my cameras. As I said above I do go out on beaches quite often. So to the OP do you think yours would work on sand?

Here is what I've used for a few years. I'm luckey that all of our metro parks are flat but this runners buggy does go thru sand also.

Is that a child runner? You say it can go through sand? How easily as that is one of the terrains I need to be able to traverse.

Can't help with the 8550 or the 7700. I have an ET-2750 and it needs a nozzle cleaning before each session. My nephew was using my PC and printed something and I mentioned he was very lucky, that printer never works w/o a nozzle cleaning. He said his Grandmother has the same printer and he knew up front to do a nozzle cleaning before printing. I've always used HP or Canon printers and never had issues like this, and I suspect they are common with Epson Eco-tank printers. There are other issues like getting the printer to agree with whatever app I'm printing from. My advice to myself is stick with Canon or HP printers next time. I do like the cheap ink however, and it does a fine job (with text) once you fool around enough to get it working.

exactly the reason I will probably never own an epson again..

The Huntington is a great place to shoot..If it is somewhere you go often or you shoot long exposures a bit you might want to look at ReeHeld which will allow you to shoot a long exposure up to 30 seconds handheld. Or their pro app which has to be on a tripod but does even longer (forever if you wanted since it will do bulb, laughs).. Check out https://www.youtube.com/@glyndewis for a lot more info

Thank you - seems like a good review. This program has been feeling good to me since I've seen it. "ve used Affinity & Paint Shop some but something hasn't felt quite right for me.

I didn't see it in the review, but do you know if will work on a jpeg file? I have some older jpeg photos I would like to improve and save.

yes though of course a jpeg isn’t as processable as a RAW image.

I moved to On1 when Lightroom Classic went to SaaS pricing and because at the time Lightroom Classic catalog was easily corrupted. Since I teach Photoshop and Lightroom Classic that was a pretty big move. I have never regretted it. It allows you to use either a browser (like Bridge) or a catalog (like Lightroom Classic) for your image management. I would say it can do about 85% of what Photoshop/Lightroom Classic can do but if I need those features I can send images over to Lightroom Classic or Photoshop, work on them and bring them back to be managed by On1. They also give you HDR, panorama, focus stacking, resize, noise reduction and sharpening as part of the product. Some of those are on the map for this year to be updated. They also are very good at being honest and when they screw up they fix it. It is not perfect. For instance, its ML mapping isn’t as accurate as Lightroom Classic and Camera Raw but neither is any other product out there. By the way I use Affinity Photo to do most of my stacking as it gives me a better result. My workflow on those types of images is changing as the one bad feature about Affinity Photo is the stacks come out as tiff not DNG raw. In this case, Lightroom Classic does the best job and does create raw output.

I also have owned every produce MacPhun (original company) and Skylum has put out including Neo. I will not be giving them anymore money because they have proven to have a sales model that pushed incomplete and broken features that they never fix but rather just put out a new Product (not update) which still doesn’t fix the issues. Then in Neo they modified the sales model to sell you features that are part of most post processing software as Extras that you pay for. Generally when their features are compared against others they are at the bottom.

My advice is to send an email to help@On1.com to see if they will extend you the ability to get the 2023.5 product for free to try out. Or get a trial of 2024. BY THE WAY if you buy the MAX 2024 you not only get the standalone 2024 product but you also get plugins for it for Photoshop, Lightroom Classic , Affinity Photo , CaptureOne and others so you can use their features from your product of choice.

I moved from Lightroom 6 to On1 over ten years ago for a couple of reasons. Lightroom Classic 6 database was unstable causing corruptions way too often. They were recoverable but.. On1 lets your use both a browser (like Bridge and the new version of Lightroom (the cloud version that runs on the desktop) or a database (catalog). It also had layers, did a decent job of raw processing and a lot of other features. I teach Lightroom and Photoshop at the college level so that was a pretty big move for me. Each update (twice a year) has added features. Only one time did they do a release which was basically a beta. But they owned up to and quickly fixed it. So where are we at in 2024. On1 is still a great product with both the Data Asset Management , browser and lots of great features but… it doesn’t match up the masking in Lightroom Classic and Camera Raw and it is having a major problem with PhotoRaw images (apple’s DNG format for the 43MP images it can do now since iPhone 14). They are working on it but right now I am processing those images in Lightroom Classic by using On1 feature then processing the Lightroom Classic version in On1 for the effects etc. I hope they fix it soon. The masking isn’t a surprise since no other competitive product does masking as well as Lightroom Classic and Camera Raw. Right now I am in a huge project using Peakto to cull the over 500k images I’ve shot in the last 50 years to a subset for my family so that when I am gone they will have those images.

So On1 is definitely worth the price (you can get discounts by watching the various YouTube people like Jim Nix, Anthony Morganti and others. If I was starting out I would probably use Lightroom Classic but with plugins to On1.
