I've tried PC Mover twice, both with different but unsatisfactory results. The first time, I was moving from an HP to a Sony. It copied a lot of manufacturer specific drivers and missed license keys so I had to re-install software anyway. The second time, it simply didn't work and support could not make it work. I was using an external hardware instead of a cable, but it would never create a transfer file that could be read by the new machine. The drive was fine and still in use, it was the software. It would have been quicker to just re-install the software on the new machine and then copy over the Documents, Pictures, Music and what ever other data. Your mileage may vary....

Years ago, after finding two that didn't find their way back out of our garage, I learned the trick of taping over the red emergency release fob on the garage door openers.

I updated a few days ago...it was a long one indeed. I didn't know about RAW being included, thanks for the tip!

I snuck a look into the box last evening to find these guys. I had three pair looking at this box in the fall. I'll be adding more boxes. Their a blast to watch and didn't seem bothered by the intrusion.

Can you tether through other software from Sony? I wanted to tether wireless instead of by cable, which in my situation, LightRoom can't handle. I ended up using Canon's tether utility dumping the files into a directory that LightRoom was watching and auto-importing from. I don't know if Capture One has this watch directory concept, but it might be worth looking into.

What error message, if any, do you see? If the controller portion had failed you might try swapping the drive to a different enclosure. Of the driver is the problem, there are utilities that can scan the drive at a very low level and reassemble files but it is a bit complicated.

If you are comfy with social media there’s a great Facebook group- Lightroom Help Group-Intermediate and Advanced. A wealth of info and great community that is very responsive to these kinds of situations.

Thanks for sharing that. I wasn't aware of that group.

That sounds like something to try. Thank you for the suggestion. I’m a little leary messing around on the computer when I don’t know what I am doing, but think I might be able to do that without really messing something up. 😊

I understand being a bit nervous about removing drivers. Just not that anything connected to the usb ports (wireless keyboard and mouse, etc) will be temporarily disabled. In my case, the drivers were found and installed quickly and the mouse and keyboard were only "offline" for a few seconds. I had a wired keyboard on stand-by just in case.

I had a similar problem recently, it wasn't a camera, but the same symptoms, a single device that stopped being recognized. The ultimate cure for me was to use the hardware device manager to un-install the USB drivers, all of them, and then tell it to "search for hardware changes". The machine recognized the USB ports with no drivers, and installed the base drivers again. After this, and a restart, all was well again on that machine.

Hope I'm not committing a forum indiscretion by posting this, but I instantly improved my personal UHH forum experience. I unsubscribed to "the attic" yesterday. Happy camper today.

Good move! It makes for a much more enjoyable forum experience!
